Re: Heave-to
Kent,
That is an excellent explanation, and one presumably specific to Amel ketches?
Cheers,

Re: Heave-to
I really appreciate the explanation, Kent.
I think that this is a fundamental piece of knowledge that is seldom explained as clear.
Thanks again.

That's correct Victor. A bit less than we were sailing with before we hove to, because the winds were picking up. Leave the jib sheeted in and tack without changing jib sheets (backwind the jib) then

Re: Heave-to
Hello Ken and Iris.
I am very interested in the heave to operation. I understand from your mail that you only used a bit of jib, a third of the mizzen and the main down. Is this correct?
Thank you in

I did find a group of messages from 2012 that address my question. But I would like to find someone who has done this recently to ask some specific questions.

Glad you’re safe. Just had a friend do the same trip (Northport, NY) aboard Marie Elena,a week earlier in totally benign seas. Timing and luck are everything!

Re: air conditioning maramu
I installed a Dometic unit in my aft cabin. 10k btus.
It is a very simple installation.
I have had it 2 years now.
It was almost a plug and play install.
