Not sure if I can answer the question, but it's obviously a major short. It's a different model than we have; does it trip the breaker regardless of setting (heating element versus microwave alone)?
As a separate issue, could others weigh in on the phenomenon of the microwave tripping the main 220 breaker, but not the Microwave breaker? We noticed a similar phenomenon when working on the AC, we shorted out a wire, the main breaker was thrown. Derick, My guess is that "someone" operated it on 220VAC 60htz power. I base my guess on my experience. The solution is that, before you leave Martinique, buy a new 220VAC 50htz microwave. Ariston microwave tripping 230v panel main breaker
My Ariston microwave has begun to trip the 230v panel main breaker (but interestingly not the microwave circuit breaker). It has been reliable up to now. It is the model number MW212K, type MW600, with 2800 watts for microwave and browning element, 850 watts for the microwave alone.
Has anyone else had this happen, and if so, what was the cause? There are lots of spare parts listed on line, from capacitors to diodes to new windings, so it may be possible to fix. Thank you for posting the diameter of the dodger cover plugs. The plugs on my boat are a bit sunburnt so I would like to replace them as well. During the interim I have been using the clear silicone as a stop gap solution which does seem to work. My plan is to fabricate some new plugs using fibreglass with a protective gelcoat finish which should last the life of the boat. Shouldn’t be too hard to make up a mold using a pc. of pipe. Thanks Bill I will get in touch with both Riza and Maud to see who can get me one quicker. May also try the local Mercedes parts guys here in Brisbane too, just in case. Here in Brisbane it's full speed ahead with many boat tasks and the other projects completed today was a new water pump on the Onan, a new Quick 40L hot water system installed and a new rear bumper all of which I'm pleased to report were dead easy installs..... till the bilge pump issue! Our hot water system just needed a new element however after all the discussions here on the forum about these lasting 5 - 8 years max, and ours being a 2008 unit, we decided to bite the bullet at 8yrs age and start our cruise with a new one instead. Colin, I had a hard time finding that part. The gear section of the pump is identical to a Mercedes Benz wiper mechanism, but I do not know what year and model. I had someone in Turkey replace the white Delrin gear and he told me that he found it in a Mercedes parts distributor. I heard that Maud now has this part. Check with her at SAV"at"Amel.fr. I think there are plenty of screws to form a good seal without introducing a foreign element. I replaced mine a couple of years ago and did not use any sealants. I made sure the surfaces were clean before re-assembling the pump. I have not had any problems.

This is why you should check with the battery manufacturer for charging specifications! Flooded batteries are pretty much all the same, but AGM varies depending on the details of internal construction. A few tenths of a volt DO matter in the long run, especially if the batteries are on float a lot. I just installed a Victron controller with my solar panels. None of the preprogrammed settings were suitable, I needed the "Bluetooth dongle" which allows exact programming of each step of the charging process through your computer or mobile device. Bill Kinney reports his AGMs are to float at 26.6V (i.e. 13.3V). Trojan sternly warned my AGMs need to float at 27V (i.e. 13.5V) and not more, at 25 °C; less voltage at warmer battery temperatures. Furthermore, my Trojans call for Bulk and Absorption at 28.8, with an absolute maximum of 29.4. I discovered that neither of my Mastervolt chargers (100A, 30A) nor the Mastervolt alternator regulator offer factory settings that match the Trojan specifications; however, Mastervolt allows the user to use a PC (or a Mac) to program exact voltages as required by Trojan. Amel installed a Leece Neville 175 amp 24VDC alternator as an option on BeBe 387. When I was considering going to AGM, I contacted Leece Neville. I don't know about your alternator. We have the 60amp internally regulated unit, not the larger one that was a commonly factory installed option. It runs at 26.6 or 26.7 volts maximum. Not high enough to upset even AGM batteries. But not high enough to really charge them efficiently either. We don't usually run our engine long enough to put significant charge into the batteries. Paul, I am certainly no expert, but every Amel battery bank melt-down that I am familiar with was caused by an internal short in a single battery in the battery bank. I think that you will find it worthwhile to purchase a digital battery tester and test yout batteries on a regular basis. There are many owners in this Group that have done that and support the concept. Although it could be your charges or regulators, either solar, or conventional battery charger...the chances are that a single cell in one battery caused your problem. Each of your batteries has 6 cells times 12 batteries is 72 cells, so you understand the possibility! If I had not sold BeBe, I would be looking at a thermal activated switch that would measure the temperature inside the battery compartment and turn off the charger at a preset temperature. Switches like this are used in commercial refrigeration, heating and air conditioning. Surely some technically inclined Amel owner will try this.
