[Amel Yacht Owners] Bridle on snubber attached on 2nd anchor rope.

I know this is not really an Amel question, but it is for my Amel. For those who have used a 2nd anchors with a “rope” (not chain): how do you do connect the anchor rope to a bridle or snubber. Perkins 4236 Anodes

Hi to all, I have a question about the anode on my Mango’s Perkins 4236 engine. There doesn’t seem to be one on the engine or any piping for the engine cooling system. There are two anodes on the prop shaft as well as the rudder ones. Is this something that wasn’t required? I have had a look in the files and can find no reference. We just left there and I had not heard about contamination issues. I want to day the price was around €0,80 per litre while across at La Linea it was €1,40 ish.

Martin, My experience is the same as others reporting in this thread. One more thing...since we were crossing the Atlantic, we wanted to also fill Jerry cans. The attendant told me that some British authorities would have a problem with that. He told me that I could fill them if they were on the boat, rather than filling them on the dock. Mike, When I painted my rub rail I did not remove it , I just lifted the edge and slid a piece of probably 1/4" line under it to hold it up and out of the way . After painting ,just pulled the line out, very simple.

We filled up at Gibraltar on December 28th. No issues. Cheap diesel at nearly half price and cheap dinghy gasoline. Eight months later, we are still using the Gibraltar dinghy gasoline, and the engine starts at the first pull.
On the North Mole (immediately south of the airport) there are three fueling stations; we passed two and went to the easternmost, largely because of the friendly attendant. Friendly is good. Also, Gibraltar does not require the vessel/passengers to check-in if one is only going to the fuel docks. However, one must genuinely confine oneself to the fuel dock. We did spend several days in Gib, but each day walking across from the Spanish side. We have bought diesel in Gibraltar 6 times, have never had any problem with dirty diesel. They have a very high rotation of diesel with all super/mega/giga yachts filling up their tanks there. BUT if you want to fill up your jerry cans, they charge you a higher, taxed, price for those liters. That is thanks to the Spanish which came to Gibraltar, filled their jerry cans and then Went back to Spain and sold it.
Now is a very busy time i Gibraltar so I highly recommend to make a reservation. In Marina Bay/Ocean Village (Same marina with two names, most confusing) they will charge you 28 GBP + electricity and Water/night. They do have a WiFi but it isn’t very good. Better to take an afternoon bear/drink at the boardwalk just above the marina.
I can also recomend you to look for the small indian supermarket and buy Spices. Very good quality and nice prices. Contact me if you will have directions.
There is also two supermarkets. Eroski on the other side of the Airport and Morrison down at Queensbay Marina. Eroski has a very good sortiment and are cheaper than Morrison that has, almost, all groceries flewn in from UK. Eroski can transport your shopping to the boat, but check with the information desk befor you do the shopping, sometimes theire transport are fully booked, but there is always a solution. Many of the liquer shops also has a free transport down to the boat. But my recommendation is to compare prices between supermarkets and special shops befor ordering. They do differ. Most of the time it is cheaper to buy at the supermarket.
I do wish you a pleasant stay i Gibraltar. One of our favourite spots.
Oh, and if you stop in Portimao, please come by and say hi. We are at anchore just inside the piers.

I called GibOil (+350 200 48232) just half and hour ago for the price: Up to 100l: 52p Up to 500l: 46p Over 500l: 39p The price seems a little flexible too. I installed volt, frequency, and amp meters and a circuit breaker in Kimberlite. They are mounted before the actual voltage enters the man AC panel as I leave the circuit breaker that I installed off before turning the boat on. Years ago I saw a 110 volt American boat plug into a pedestal in Bermuda that was mis wired and he had 440 volts blow out everything on his boat. 3 weeks ago I returned to my slip at my yacht club , plugged in and found 110 volts on my panel. fortunately my safety breaker was off. I plugged into another pedestal. taped off the bad pedestal and all was good. Always check the voltage of what your are plugging into. Fair Winds, Eric |

Hi Mike, We had our SM painted in Trinidad, and had to remove the rubber from the rub rail. It came out from front to back fairly easily. Our boat is close to 25 years old, has lived much of its life in the Caribbean, and the rubber part was still supple and easy to work with. After removal, I scrubbed it, and then waxed the exposed part. It looks almost as good as new. Getting it back in was a 2 person job. We started at the bow, and one person lined it up while the other person used a rubber mallet to fit it back in. Probably 2 hours of work for both sides. Good luck with the project.
