No thru hull fitting????  Just a hose glued into a hole in the hull??  That's how I understood the description.

Which is the original system ?

Eric,

You blame Amel for being slow. I read your order email to Amel that you posted in your Facebook rant about Amel, and could not understand what you wanted. You even said in your email, "...maybe I want..." and used American slang for nautical terms...and sent no photos.

Send me an email of what you want, and I will write an email for you including photos.

Our previous boat was a Beneteau. Our very close friend has an Oyster. Neither of those companies knows the specific parts included in a build 1 year old and you criticize Amel because they cannot read your mind on what you "maybe" want on a 28 year old boat, when you cannot accurately describe the part and you do not include a photo.

Send me an email and I will write your order, "maybe."

I wish i was at the boat and i could take pictures.  A picture database would be great for ordering parts.  Maybe i'll have my team in india put something together.

Maybe some other boat builder would do something different,  but that other boat builder would not have a watertight engine room.

If you put a seacock on the exhaust outlet you have a big problem if it is left closed by accident and the engine started. It is correct to rely on the gooseneck of the exhaust and water trap and not have a seacock.

[Amel Yacht Owners] where do you attach the (optional) 3rd Main mast Halyard

Alexandre Uster von Baar

Good afternoon,

I am a little embarrassed to ask that question:
My SM2K comes with the optional 3rd Main mast Halyard
which you can see page 28 or chapter 7.13 of the Optional Equipment
http://nikimat.com/amel_super_maramu_2000_Optional_equipment.pdf

I never know where to attach it.
Since I don’t like it hitting the mast, usually I attach to the rail, but during the last passage the 35 kt of wind were putting lots of pulling…

For those who have it, where and how to you secure it.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely, Alexandre

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] What is the Magic Password to get Amel to Respond

Bill & Judy Rouse <yahoogroups@...>

I have never had any issues from ordering Amel parts from sav@.... I have also had no issues with Amel Caribbean in Martinique...Maud in La Rochelle and Caroline in Martinique are very good.

It could be that because you are ordering parts for a 25+ year old boat things are a little slower. I always am very careful with the English explanation of the part, and I am always careful about stating what I want, which is almost always price and availability. So, be specific, include everything they need to do what you ask, and always your hull number and a photo of each part you are requesting.

Another significant issue is that you probably do not know all of the items on your boat that have been changed or modified. And, they don't either. I can certainly understand when Amel gets a request for a part that Maud may have to find someone who was there when the Santorin was in production to be able to determine what you may want/need.

I hope this helps you.

I like the fact she double checks items I am ordering to ensure they are the correct parts for my Amel. She will often ask for a picture to verify.

My overall experience with Amel SAV has been very good…

I am putting an order now, it took 1 week to get an answer, but I think they are doing a great job.
I detail and document all the parts I need, here is an example of my current order:
http://nikimat.com/amel_2016_03_24.html
May be this makes a difference.

The idea of a web site for common parts use is a good idea!
With time I hope to document the parts I purchased.

Hi Eric,

It has to be a French trait towards clients indicating disdain….  I too am frustrated for the same reasons.

Couple that with usurious parts pricing and lack of commonly used spares should make us aware of the importance of becoming self sufficient ASAP…

Frustrated too…

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] 3 Phase Dive Compressor

Mawgan grace

Just an update for those interested:-

I've spoken to Bauer and they suggest replacing the 3 phase motor for the compact single phase 230v 50Hz motor. This motor costs £457.41 (ouch!)

The pulley needs to be 100mm diameter to give 50Hz and that's only £9.74.

The running amps are 14A however the start up amps can momentarily be 6x that. I'm guessing if I have problems I will have to uprate my breaker.

I got a good price for the compressor so it's still all within budget...

Anyone at the Singapore boat show? I'll be at the Amel stand on the 64 helping sell yachts.

Alexandre,
Thank you !!
I was getting a little concerned as the knob on my lock
was also getting a little loose.
I examined your fine photos and removed the lock.
All I had to do was take off the top plate and found
the wiggly pin.
I removed it cleaned it and put some thread locker on
it and it is back to perfect.
Total time with your help 10 minutes.
