Hi Mohammad and Aty,

We quite liked Gaeta Italy.  Put Liesse on the hard there 3 years yrs ago.  Nice beach in walking distance, cute town w great pizza. It s easy to access Rome, Naples, Pompei ( highly recommend if you haven t been yet) by train.  Great spot for routine haulout and storage and although they have marine services we found it somewhat challenging to communicate with them although Jayne Koehler an expat living in Gaeta is (was?) a fixture there for years and was quite helpful.  Again wouldn t recommend for complex jobs.  She had a small ebook ‘Welcome to Gaeta’ which was helpful.  Can PM you her contact info if uou would like it.

Bill,

The original oil pressure sensor for versions A, B and C is 3445696, replaced by model 8151889 (with an adaptor as the thread is different, 14-10) to be bipolar.
For versions D, E, F the original sensor is 21634021, the thread is 16mm and there seems to be 4 connectors. I don't know if it is the bipolar model 8151889 that is installed with an adapter, it would have to see on an engine but access is very difficult without disassembly.

Best regards

Thanks Bill. Trying to stay North. We did stay in Licata for a couple of years and really liked it. Although Sicily has been getting hit by multiple water spouts lately. Our initial plan of 3-4 years in the Med has already extended to 8. Too much to see, and no rush, but world is a big place and time is short. Who came up with this 100 year age span anyway? Lol.

Genova Marinas look fairy interesting and well protected. Anyone stay in Genova for winter or even a transit?

If you plan to stay in the water, pick it carefully because some marinas are known to have a significant surge during the winter. I am sure that you know most Amel owners go to di Ragusa Sicily.

locked Subgroups added for specific Amel models #IMPORTANT

Everyone,

I have added model-specific Subgroups that many of you may be interested in joining. Any member can join any Subgroup at any time.
Emails and postings to a Subgroup will only be seen by the members of that subgroup. The following is posted on AmelYachtOwnersGroup.com's main page:

Subgroups - Any Member can join these Subroups while applying for the main group, or anytime after:

Older Amels, especially Sharki, Maramu, and Mango CLICK HERE for more info or to join
This subgroup is for older model Amels and especially the over 500 Amel models Sharki, Maramu, and Mango. We encourage every owner of these models to join this Subgroup. The posting rules are the same as the Main Amel Yacht Owners Group

Newer Amels including the A50, A55, and A60 CLICK HERE for more info or to join

This subgroup is for owners of Amel models newer than Santorin, Super Maramu, and A54. This Subgroup is specifically for the Amel models A55, A50, & A60. We encourage every owner of these models to join this Subgroup. The posting rules are the same as the Main Amel Yacht Owners Group

Yachts For Sale Subgroup CLICK HERE for more info or to join

  1. Amel yacht owners wanting to sell their Amel and Buyers wanting to buy an Amel can post details once every 60 days.
  2. We ask that any owner posting in Yachts For Sale make a donation that will be used by the group for expenses. Over 100 currencies are accepted. Click on the DONATION button in the left column on the Amel Yacht Owners Group page.
  3. After posting in the subgroup, members can make a short summary post in the main group, advising all members of the Subgroup post...please save the details for the Subgroup posting.
  4. The postings in any subgroup can only be viewed by joining that subgroup (sorry we don't have an option with this). You can join a subgroup and choose NO EMAIL, or other email options.

Classic Amels including Santorin, Super Maramu, and A54 account for the majority of Amels produced and owned today. Owners of these models do not have a Subgroup as they make up the majority.

Martin, you can find balls on the site Accastillage-diffusion.com.
There are two rows of balls, one in Torlon (lower) and one in Delrin (upper) but I don't remember the size of the balls and I won't be going to the boat for a month (if you can wait, I'll tell you)
There are two Accastillage Diffusion shops in Sicily (Palerme and Syracuse)

Re: modified stern railing on 54 to carry line drums

Courtney,

this is an Lewmar VX3 1.500 Watt. We mounted it to serve for the stern anchor. The switches are positioned just portside to the windlass. In the lazarette we added a chain chest which keeps 8 m of chain (10 mm) and some 50 m anchor line.

The idea is to use both, stern anchor and windlass, in Patagonian waters and may be in Greece too.

Hi Nick;

We replaced this oil pressure switch back in 2017. Attached is the invoice from Gwen Marine. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I also found the schematic of the sensor, while I was looking, to figure out why the sensor that I ordered from Volvo by the engine serial number, was different than the one I was replacing. The answer, as others have already provided, is the modifications done by Volvo France for Amel, that were not documented at Volvo. This is one of the sensors that was changed at Volvo France, to achieve the isolated ground.

I am at home in the U.K. and Amelia is in Leros.
In the photo below you can see what I believe to be the oil pressure monitor that has a small oil leak. Located just beside the base of the dip stick tube.
It needs to be replaced but my parts catalogue is on the boat…

Anyone know the part number??.

There has been a very small oil leak that side of the engine and no space to see due to the fuel tank location.
I could not find it all last summer and autumn, until I bought a selfie stick and took lots of photos with my phone, that finally revealed the problem.
