Problem solved, thanks to each of you.

Indeed Alexandre, it
was the breaker on the aft end of
the generator which tripped due to (my) user error and lack
of knowledge the
existence of this item. Bill, thanks for following up with
your second reply
as, per Mike’s consideration I did not know why the
breaker opened until
learning that the dishwasher draws 11A when heating.
 I hadn’t used mine in three years and was
running it through a cycle at the time after a thorough
scrubbing.  Olivier, thank you for the
easy-to-understand
troubleshooting advice and reminder of the system logic. I
always start the
generator with all 220V panel breaker-switches off/open and
allow the unit to
warm up for about a minute before applying a load. Before
shutdown I again
open/turn off all of the switches and let the unit cool down
for a couple of
minutes before shutting it down. Hopefully this will prolong
the life of the
solenoid. Thanks everyone for your kind assistance.

You should check the other switch which is on the side of the generator (meaning on the aft side of the boat).
Trying to be clearer, when you have the “DC circuit breakers” in front of you. Move toward your left (aft side of the boat).
Then on the genset you will see another breaker.

ON SM 384 with Onan MDKAV running and powering the
boat, all AC power went off but generator kept running.The
"DC circuit breakers" and "Emergency
Stop" swithches on the generator itself are on and I
have reset the main circuit breaker on the side of the the
220v switch panel from "marche" to
"arret" and back to "marche" again even
though it appeared this breaker had not tripped. It appears
that the generator is producing power but it is not getting
to the AC switch/circuit breaker panel. Unfortunately my
green "220v" available light is burnt out and is
no longer available from Amel.  I don't have an AC
multi-meter with me to see just where there is power and
where there isn't. I'm wondering if there is a
simple solution like a  fuse or switch somewhere between
the generator and the AC panel and if so, where I might find
it? Or any other suggestions?
