I remember a few yes ago someone posted pics of a beautiful deck paint job..,then posted a few months later that it was all peeling up. What was the mistake made on that application?
Thanks

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] paint for deck stripes

Bill & Judy Rouse <yahoogroups@...>

Using a striping tool with a striping paint wheel about 60% the size of the stripe, Judy painted ours in two days. Lightly sanded using sand paper wrapped around a cork block, wiped with thinner then painted about 18 inches of the entire width of the deck before refilling and starting over. It took two days. You need knee pads. I held the umbrella to shade her.

Make sure you get paint mixed to match by a professional marine paint shop. I would use single part marine paint.

Roll the striping tool UP along one side of the stripe indention, then DOWN the other side of the same indention.

Any other questions?

Kent,

Your light breaker is on the DC panel...older boats, it is located in the aft head.

You are not blind.

Alexandre, Bill,
Mike, Andrew and Mr. Olivier BEAUTE,
Problem solved, thanks to each of you.

Indeed Alexandre, it
was the breaker on the aft end of
the generator which tripped due to (my) user error and lack
of knowledge the
existence of this item. Bill, thanks for following up with
your second reply
as, per Mike’s consideration I did not know why the
breaker opened until
learning that the dishwasher draws 11A when heating.
I hadn’t used mine in three years and was
running it through a cycle at the time after a thorough
scrubbing.  Olivier, thank you for the
easy-to-understand
troubleshooting advice and reminder of the system logic. I
always start the
generator with all 220V panel breaker-switches off/open and
allow the unit to
warm up for about a minute before applying a load. Before
shutdown I again
open/turn off all of the switches and let the unit cool down
for a couple of
minutes before shutting it down. Hopefully this will prolong
the life of the
solenoid. Thanks everyone for your kind assistance.

Alexandre, Bill, Mike, Andrew and Mr. Olivier BEAUTE, Problem solved, thanks to each of you.

Indeed Alexandre, it was the breaker on the aft end of the generator which tripped due to (my) user error and lack of knowledge the existence of this item. Bill, thanks for following up with your second reply as, per Mike’s consideration I did not know why the breaker opened until learning that the dishwasher draws 11A when heating.  I hadn’t used mine in three years and was running it through a cycle at the time after a thorough scrubbing.  Olivier, thank you for the easy-to-understand troubleshooting advice and reminder of the system logic. Has anyone else received this non-renewal notice, and what is it all

It is very legalese and very hard to understand. It seems like it only
applies to the west coast and Mexican waters.
I got the form letter and an explanation. The explanation said that they
were no longer doing auto-renew policies and gave me a list of three
different insured crusing areas to select from for them to quote the new
policy.

It sounds like they want to do a more detailed breakdown of dates and the
possibility of "Named Storms" for people cruising in Mexico.

Good evening Jim,

once you have checked the AC breaker on the genset electric box (towards the aft of the boat), if it has not tripped, check if the blower above the generator is running. This is the only 230V Equipment that is not fed through the 230V in galley. If it is working, this means 230V is going out of the genset, through the 230V breaker on the genset, but not further.
In fact 230V genset power is not going straight to the galley panel, but first through a solenoid box (above the genset on portside, in a grey box labelled QUAI/GE) where the source of 230V is automatically selected (as soon as you start your genset, the 230V net on board is no more fed from shore power-if you're connected- but from the genset. The genset power has priority over shore power).
If the 230V is going in this box but not out, the solenoid may be faulty or disconnected. Open the box (GENSET STOPPED) and check the connections. If they look OK, the solenoid may be faulty.
This solenoid wears out more than usual when you start the genset without prior tripping all the breakers at the galley panel.

Good search.

Olivier

Hello Jim,

You should check the other switch which is on the side of the generator (meaning on the aft side of the boat).
Trying to be clearer, when you have the “DC circuit breakers” in front of you. Move toward your left (aft side of the boat).
Then on the genset you will see another breaker.

hope that help, let us know!

ON SM 384 with Onan MDKAV running and powering the
boat, all AC power went off but generator kept running. The
"DC circuit breakers" and "Emergency
Stop" swithches on the generator itself are on and I
have reset the main circuit breaker on the side of the the
220v switch panel from "marche" to
"arret" and back to "marche" again even
though it appeared this breaker had not tripped. It appears
that the generator is producing power but it is not getting
to the AC switch/circuit breaker panel. Unfortunately my
green "220v" available light is burnt out and is
no longer available from Amel.  I don't have an AC
multi-meter with me to see just where there is power and
where there isn't. I'm wondering if there is a
simple solution like a  fuse or switch somewhere between
the generator and the AC panel and if so, where I might find
it? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Jim

Mike,

Did your main breaker on the side of the Onan trip also?

My experience is that it can open if more than 30 amps of 230VAC are being used. That would be the water maker, 3 A/C units, and 100amp charger The dishwasher pulls about 11 amps when heating water. However, every time it has been found open on BeBe, it is because someone/something bumped it.
