Hi Eloi,
If you ever figure this out, please post photos with a label for each wire and any mounting ideas you have. Maybe someone else has this already. Daniel's photo is helpful but it would be good to have a "B Rousean /Nickomat" style set of instuctions and photos. I plan to do the project in a month or so. Bob, KAIMI SM 429 |

Re: Ordering new sails on SM2000
Unfortunately, Dimension Polyant has probably ruined the market for HydraNet because of their mismanagement of the supply chain and especially because they misinformed sailmakers worldwide regarding delivery. It is a shame because HydraNet was the best. I recently reviewed a 2007 A54 with its original HydraNet sails. Even though they were 15 years old with thousands of miles, the condition was good. The owner had the sails checked by sailmakers every 4 years and had replaced the UV panels twice during the lifetime of these sails. I think that I would go with the Fibercom Pro Hybrid, cut and sewn in the same triradial pattern as the HydraNet Radial. I think that Nautosphere Voyager is good, but I cannot get my head around crosscut sails at the price demanded by Nautosphere Voyager. Bill

Ordering new sails on SM2000
Donato Valente
Good day to everyone. We are considering to buy new sails and were oriented on HydraNet Radial, as per suggestions acquired on this forum. The Turkish sailormaker informed that the delivery of the above is unpredictable at the moment. Therefore he is offering as valid alternative Nautosphere Voyager OR Fibercom Pro Hybrid, stating that they have same specs as Hydranet, especially Fibercom. Since I have poor knowledge about sail brands, would appreciate opinions, pros and cons and experiences about the alternative they offer. It would be of great help for a right choice. Many thanks D. Re: Wakespeed WS500 wiring
Hello Eloi,. Attached is a photo of the initial wiring with the cap removed over stator. I disconnected the internal yellow wire that was attached and that is where I attached the blue wire from the WS500. I did not cut the old yellow wire but taped it up so I could reinstall the old regulator if needed. I hope that helps. Re: Wakespeed WS500 wiring
Wakespeed's customer service is very responsive (on their website). I was attaching the wires just as you and called them. Not realizing what time it was in Washington state he picked up the call as he was walking his dog at 6am. He said no problem and walked me through it on facetime. That being said I forgot exactly the exact configuration but I did have to cut out the old regulator. Good luck. Wakespeed WS500 wiring
Eloi Bamberg
Hello,
Getting a bit confused about the wiring of the WS500 to the Leece Neville. I have read all of the threads on this forum about it but I have still some questions. if I connect the "field" cable of the WS500 instead of the orange one of the original regulator, do I have to cut the internal wire to the diodes?. On the picture of Dan Carlson's installation there is a blue wire going to the middle cap, ???? I want to be sure to make no mistake. Thanks Eloi Bamberg SM2K 426 RedLion |

Re: Water tank gelcoat
James Alton
Kim,
The gelcoat in our water tank has some checks in it and is in places flaking away. In general, if your boat is one of those that is developing blisters elsewhere such as the bottom, then I would consider epoxy sealing the inside of the tank, and yes it would be a pretty horrible job as part or all of the top of the tank would need to be cut away for access! If your boat is blister free as ours is I would just do a good clean up on the tank and vacuum out any loose chips, if the laminate were blister prone you would see them by now. I don't understand the reason for painting the keel bolts/nuts. Unlike steel, stainless/Inox needs to be exposed to O2 in order to develop the oxide to protect itself.
Best,
James Alton

Anyone has any experience and/or advices about the gelcoat cracking inside the water tanks of our Maramu? We had to dry the tank in order to treat and paint the keel bolts. Next day, as the paint was drying, the walls of the tanks which had already a few cracks were cracking and flecking in many places. Is it bad? Can it present a risk to the fiberglass now exposed to the water in the tank? Are we going to have osmosis in the tank? Sanding the gelcoat where it is flecking seems physically impossible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Cheers Kim |

Miles,
Right now Mark is cruising in the Bahamas, so might not have seen this. Having been through this, and knowing that Onan is no longer supplying this part, I do have another suggestion. Contact Oliver at "Yachts and Diesels" in Fort Lauderdale. http://yachtsanddiesels.com He was able to supply us with a used one that was in excellent shape at a very attractive price. At the time, I believe he had a few more on the shelf. Bill Kinney SM160, Harmonie Rock Sound Harbour, Eleuthera, Bahamas |

Jamie,
I'd suggest that your best bet is to connect with a local Amel owner and have them show you the procedure for this. It's not complex, but does need to be done correctly. Bill Kinney SM160, Harmonie Rock Sound Harbour, Eleuthera, Bahamas |

Jason,
The bulkhead is about 1" thick. Might be 3/4, might be 1 1/4... Our plans are to spend the summer in Grenada, and our insurance company wants us there by the end of June. We really do not have firm ideas about when we will move out of the Bahamas, and where we will stop along the way. Weather--and whim--will decide. "Our plans are written in the sand at low tide." Hello, my wife Laura and I have started looking for a Super Maramu to buy. I have been on several Amels over the years however, my wife has not. We are hoping to find an owner in the US or nearby that would be willing to show us your SM. We are located near Huntsville, AL and are willing to travel anywhere we can make it over a three day weekend.
Please feel free to reach out to me directly at jon@... or 859-576-9218.
Thanks, Jon & Laura |

Re: What is this?! Battery cable run
Jason,
When I installed the Victron Skylar and Promariner chargers, I had to run voltage and temperature sensing wires from the battery bank to each charger. I don't remember how thick that wall is, but I used a standard size drill bit of 6mm in my Ryobi 18V battery drill to start with, and it was easy enough to drill straight through. The fuel tank is aft of that, so you won't hit it. The battery cables flow downwards in all that sealant, so a little down angle on your drill won't be an issue. The hardest part, as a previous poster said, is once you've made the hole and pushed a wire through it, is actually getting at it from behind all the insulation in the engine room. Best bet is to use something stiff, like coathanger wire, so you have a decent chance of being able to find it from the engine room side. AND make sure, when you've pulled all your wires through and finished the job, that the hole is WELL sealed. I didn't use conduit, I just used sealant around the wires in the hole. Good luck Alan Elyse SM437 |
