Bill,

If you plug into the USA. You will find that both legs are hot. If you
measure the voltage between the green/yellow (ground ) in the USA you will
find 110 volts on each wire.

It is exactly the same as running 220 volt items here without the white
neutral.

Eric, correct, the brown is the EU "hot" and the blue is the EU "return."
The best translation for blue is is neutral and not to be confused with
earth a/k/a ground which is yellow/green.

Eric,

Wiring (On Meter: LOAD IN, LOAD OUT and NEUTRAL)----
1.) Locate the brown wire from the main breaker to breaker panel
distribution LOAD terminal block. Remove the end of the LOAD wire (brown)
at
the terminal block.
2.) Attach the above brown wire to Load IN on the meter (it was long
enough
for my location of the meter).
3.) Add a similar gauge brown wire from the Load OUT on the meter to the
terminal where you remove the wire in step 1.
4.) Add a Neutral (blue) wire from the ground terminal on the meter to the
breaker panel distribution NEUTRAL terminal block.

The one I bought is 50htz. I am not sure how/if it will work on 60htz. I
could not find a 50/60htz

Hello Amel family. My husband and I are recent Amel Owners having purchased a '97 Super Maraumu. We are now SV Libby. I am trying to decipher the German instructions for the clothes washing machine and the french ones for the dish washer. Does anyone have the English versions of the manuals and or some operating instructions you could share with me? The clothes washer is the Euronova EU351M and the dishwasher is the Eltrolux Arthur Martin VAC515. Thank you in advance.

Eric,

To answer your question, I record the cumulative Kwh reading when I enter a
marina which enables me to track my Kwh usage.

During the past 3-5 years, most marinas we have berthed at charge for
electricity by the Kwh. Most have a hidden Kwh meter or use voodoo to
calculate our usage. In fact one marina in Bocos del Toros had us list all
of our electric appliances and the average daily use. They took this
information and calculated our electric bill. Most electric usage in the Med
is being billed at 0.35 Euro/Kwh or higher, which will bring the total for
electricity to about half of the already high berthing rate.

I thought it was prudent to know what our actual usage is, rather than rely
on some unseen meter which is recorded by someone who does not know how to
read & write.

Eric,

Yes, your installation is the reason that about 7 years ago I installed
the
Volt/Amp/Freq meter before the main breaker. I chose to install it inside
the access door. I always check volts and frequency before throwing the
main
breaker to ON. This meter did not give me cumulative Kwh.

In the photo you will see two separate digital meters. The larger meter
was
previously installed and measures Volts, Amps, and Freq. The other is the
recently installed Kwh digital counter.

I have found each one useful.

a
galvanic isolator on the back of the panel. One time in Bermuda another
boat
plugged into a pedestal that was wired wrong and he got 440 volts on his
boat. He blew out everything.

I have posted photos of my voltmeter setup as well as my nav station
which
is different from most boats. Please note I had them put the amel logo

Eric,

Yes, your installation is the reason that about 7 years ago I installed the
Volt/Amp/Freq meter before the main breaker. I chose to install it inside
the access door. I always check volts and frequency before throwing the main
breaker to ON. This meter did not give me cumulative Kwh.

In the photo you will see two separate digital meters. The larger meter was
previously installed and measures Volts, Amps, and Freq. The other is the
recently installed Kwh digital counter.

I have found each one useful.

Hi other then Amel I don't know of rudder indicator source.

Regarding the Auto Helm carefully check the connections at the course controller computer mounted near the servo motor. On this site there has been little success with a wind vain. Also check to be sure you have nothing metal. Ear the course compass.

Ross,

Although a different machine my NECO had a session of just turning one way. I cleaned the contacts on on the relays in the box on top of the motor and then it worked fine. One other problem on another occasion was a was a wire not firmly attached in the same box. Moral is check it is properly broken before chucking and maybe carry more spares than you would otherwise.

I have a spare emergency autopilot - an Autohelm 3000 that can attach on the wheel if needed and it works ok. I have considiered a newer autopilot than the NECO and would probably look at a linear second system attached at the rudder post and keep the system by the wheel. There are some posts about this here. I think some people may have changed the cables to hydraulic pipes for the steering. That would allow a hydraulic pump on the autopilot but I would stick with cables and an electric motor.

Go to a good auto parts store such as NAPA and get door weather striping and glue. Be sure to remove all the old stuff with acetone or similar product to get the old glue off.
