Re: xantrex pro battery monitor

On my Sharki, the Battery charger went belly up.  I need to replace that; any suggestions?  The boat is 220V.
I also need to replace the reefer.  I saw BeBe's presentation on how to remove the reefer. Anyone know what would be a good replacement?

Thanks

PS> Slowly catching up with the repairs and maintenance. Ordered a new head (Jabsco compact twist and lock) sails out for mending, Talked to the factory about diagrams, semi installed a Wi-Fi booster (Rogue Wave), re-organized the interior,  This weekend I hope to replace the masthead running  / anchor light, steaming light, and install some new running rigging.  I also added a Rocna 20Kg anchor.

Thanks Bill,

Did you replace the link 10 shunt with the one that came with the link pro?

John,

Remove the passage berth mattress. On the platform that the mattress rests on, find the hole in the top, located in the middle and near the starboard hull.

Look inside and you will find the shunt and wires from the Link10 to the shunt.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] 4JH4-HTE TURBO MALFUNCTION

Alex,

As it was suggested,

Just see how easily the turbo is spinning using a straw.

Remember that when you shut off an engine with a turbo you must let it idle for a few minutes as the turbo is still spinning very fast and if you turn off the engine immediately the lubrication to the turbo stops and you can burn up the bearings in the turbo very quickly.

Eric, thanks for the reply. This is a Maramu. I repowered from the Perkins 4154 engine, but everything was working well, and suddenly it stopped kicking in. The prop is the Amel original three blade  prop and two independent calculations showed it was adequate with the new engine/transmission.

It was operating properly under load but not anymore.

Thanks Eric, that is exactly what I was planning on doing.

Probably a better solution than the original method!

I put silicone adhesive under them and held them in place with a couple of cable ties.

I had the bow thruster on my SM2000 fail while docking today. After investigating I found that both of the sensors that detect that the bow thruster has reached its fully up and fully down position were no longer attached to the vertical tube that they are located on.

The sensors should be held tightly against the tube holding the piston with some strange looking jubilee clips that have a special plastic receptor for the sensor incorporated into them. Both of these jubilee clips had rusted through and separated.

Has anybody replaced these clips. I am sure I can make a temporary repair but I would like to know if anybody knows a supplier where these clips can be purchased.

Thanks

The shunt is located against the starboard side on the outside middle of the battery box.

John,

Mine is located behind the master DC red handled levers in the battery compartment. I had to really look for it. It is low down below the master levers in the bottom of the little compartment forward of the main battery storage area.

Do you know, or does anyone else know, the specification (microfarad rating) of the run capacitor on the Dessalator low pressure feed pump motor?  It is a round capacitor with a pigtail but since it is painted over at the factory I don't know what its rating is.

Dear John,
Since we met in Uruguay in 2009/10 you have been an inspiration to me to keep taking Seafever to places than I had never dreamed of.
Your confidence in Moon Dog and in Amel set an example to us all, particularly your circumnavigation of South America.
More importantly than all of that, it took an American to show an Irish guy the correct way to pour a bottle of beer!
Best wishes to you and Ruth on your next adventure.
Take care and good luck to you both.

Combined needle roller bearings, needle roller/cylindrical roller thrust bearings For 1985 sharki

Steve Leeds

I am in the process of rebuilding the swivel in the mainmast and mizzen mast of my 1985 Sharki with Nirvana rig.  The big challenge is turning out to be locating a replacement combined needle roller bearing, needle thrust bearing for this unit, especially for the main which is quite large (72mm OD).

Does anyone have any experience with this?
