Hi Danny, I bought it from Amel. I sent Maud a photo to identify it. With courier charges to UK cost about 80 Euros, from memory.
With the Kiwi dollar where it is , this will be a mere trifle for you ! Ian and Judy, Pen Azen, SM 302, Corfu To: amelyachtowners@... From: amelyachtowners@... Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] RE: ParaSailor
Bill & Judy Rouse <yahoogroups@...>
Dave, Good to hear from a sail maker on this issue... Besides all of the rigging and such on the Para Sailor that seems problematic to me, is it the load that you believe is a potential problem?
I happen to be a fan of the twin pole system for crossing oceans. It has amazed me the number of owners that have never, or rarely used it. My guess is half of the people that I have talked to believe that it is too much trouble, or too complicated to rig the twin pole system. And, rather than sail downwind in a straight line, they will jibe back and forth. Of course cruising is not racing, but arriving sooner is usually better, as far as I am concerned.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Zinc on D3-110 Volvo
Bill & Judy Rouse <yahoogroups@...>
My experience on SM 387 is that the Onan zinc will last about 18 months while full time cruising and no more than about 60 days in marinas. Hope this helps you. Bill

Acceptable or not, the Parasailor is a solution in search of a problem. If your 54 is set up with twin poles you already have a far better arrangement for downwind sailing installed. And if you don't have the poles, there's several more economical and imminently practical solutions. Just my .02.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Icom M802 and AT140 tuner grounding
Yes, it is connected to the points you mention. However, the cable I have with my unit, the green ground wire is insulated (not bare).

Alan/Mark, I acknowledge that the manufactured cable that connects the 802 to the AT140 has a ground wire in it. It is a bare wire, correct?
Here is what I understand, please correct me if I am wrong. 1. Connect the ground screw of the IC802 transceiver housing to the bare ground wire. 2. Connect the bare ground wire on the other end to the AT140 tuner ground terminal which is also connected to the copper grounding foil in the Lazzarette. Power to the system is isolated, so no need for the DC blocking capacitors. |

SM Boom attachment
ianjenkins1946 <ianjudyjenkins@hotmail.com>
Happy story to report. Having plumbed this site for tips ( thanks to all who replied ) and spent a sleepless night anticipating unyielding stainless bolts and the need for drills and saws and having rehearsed enough swear words to make a sailor blush, everything came apart as it should have.
The man who did the deed is Bob of Bob's Yachts here in Corfu, Greece, who was recommended to me on this site and whom I am very happy to recommend in turn. We needed to unscrew four bolts, two on each attachment. He gave each sharp taps with a hammer and then using a screwdriver and a wrench he slowly worked each one tighter, looser, tighter, looser and they all came out. All four bolts penetrated the boom ( I thought they might just tighten up against it ) The damaged attachment had deformed the slot in which it sits, pulling it downwards and being deformed itself , making it very difficult to slide along. This meant that although we could have persevered and hammered it all the way aft to get it off the boom we risked damaging the slot in so doing. Instead, we tapped the damaged fitting a couple of inches forward and have left it there, unused. Its aft bolt screws into the hole previously occupied by the forward bolt. The new attachment now sits 1inch (25 mm ) aft of the original and I can't see any problem with this new position. Joel, if you happen to read this, bearing in mind your timely advice against moving the attachment forward, I should be interested to hear if you have any views on the new position I have chosen. Personally, I can't see any downside. So, as so often is the case with an Amel, the reality of fixing things turns out to be much easier than anticipated. Merci, M. Amel.
