bow roller

Mark Hayden

The primary bow roller on our Super Maramu 2000 has pretty large grooves worn into it and we would like to replace it. The spindle appears to welded into the pulpit on both sides. Does anyone have advice on replacing these bow rollers?

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Re: [Amel] @all SM Owners with the Perkins M80T engine

Congratulations, Martin and Stenella. What engine do you have? As a general rule the diesels are meant to run at 60 to 70 % of max rpm under load. If you have a turbo charger you'll want to be able to run it at 90% of max rpm for 15min every 4-6 hrs to burn the carbon out of the turbo and exhaust elbow. My old 78hp Volvo was rated at max 3000rpm and my new Yanmar at 3200rpm. You should consider cruising rpm ~2000 to 2200 rpm. With my Volvo. I got the best fuel efficiency at ~2400 rpm. My experience (see old posts re: low rpm) tells me the SuperMaramus with 78hp Volvo were overpropped. It would help to know what engine you have. I have th specs on my repitched fixed prop for the Volvo on the boat, but won't be back aboard until May.
Again, congrats and welcome to the family.

Hallo, I´m a new owner of the SM #34. The ship is in the yard to get a refit. I want to mount the three-blade- turning-propeller from Gori. But I don´t know the correct size of the original propeller, because I think, that another one is mounted. The maesure of my old fixed prop is 21/16 530mm. Another question my distributor wants to know, are the revs per minute on cruising speed. I felt to test it before taking the ship outside. Is anyone possible to give a correct answer? Thank you very much in advance,

Martin from Stenella,#34

Forgive some blatant commercialism, but for those who are members of Seven Seas Cruising Association - SSCA - one of the many benefits is a free on-line subscription to Ocean Navigator. Go to ssca.org and follow the links to Ocean Navigator (join first if you're not already a member.) They haven't posted the May-June issue quite yet, however.

Eric,
I know nothing about Renault paint codes. We are painting the mast
with Awlgrip Eggshell, it looks to be a perfect
match.There is a automotive
paint called Chroma One, I think made by Dupont. Automotive paint supply
stores could
probably determine the Renault code. Chroma One is also a two
part paint, I used it to paint my last boat and it held
up very well. The
awlgrip can be rolled and tipped and looks like it was sprayed on, although I
have seen some less
than perfect jobs.

Hi Pat, The paint code Amel gave me is Renault 348 which was what I used
when painting the masts on our Sharki. I would be suprised if it was
different on any of the models

Eric, You may be correct, Amel may well have used a Renault paint. I said ,
I just do not have any knowledge of Renault paints and plan to use Awlgrip
which I am familiar with and think cannot be beat for a boat. I am sure Amel

could provide info on the paint.

Thanks, Pat

Re: Renault--mast paint

Gentlemen, if this may help:
the reference for the Amel mast paint is Renault Panda 348(white).
As a matter of fact I just ordered a couple of spray cans of it this week.

here is the link to the product:
http://www.bleu-distri.com/recherche-peinture-carrosserie/?marque=Renault

Name of the company is Bleu Distri. It is located in France (where I now live) and I don't know if they ship overseas.

They have been very reactive and offer a good tracking.

Georges Pellegrini on Greenlight soon in Greece till October.
