Clutch Assemblhy for outhaul motor and main motor

Hi, We have just taken off these two clutch assemblies from our 1991 Super Maramu and find they are in very bad state. The part No. is MVF44 with the Brand Bonfiglou.

Hi Pat, a friend with a SM has just gone through the process of removing the extrusion. He had a rigger do the job. Screws and rivets removed and try as they may they could not separate the extrusion from the motor, including taking the forestay off into the riggers workshop and using all the usual methods to loosen it. In the end they decided there was sufficent surplus length in the extrusion to allow them to cut it off flush and then dig the piece out of the motor top. Good luck.

Hi Mark, just to add to the ideas. I have spent many years around diesel engines in a variety of applications. A regular maintenance need is injector servicing and a dark smoky exhaust is one indicator that it is time for that service. Fuel is driven through the injectors into the combustion chamber at very high pressure though a small nozzle. Over time this nozzle wears and increases in diameter leading to over fueling and a smoky exhaust, particularly under load.

I would expect a performance decrease as well as the smoke. Injector servincing is not a big deal. You need a competent tradesman with the right tools to remove them and a specialist service centre to sevice them.. I have to touch the brown wire to the red wire every time I start the engine or it won't charge the 24v bank, even after I rev up the engine. Any one else have a solution to the excitation circuit?

forget to unplug the on off switch also at the top of the tube. Keep a bucket handy as the business end of the tube have an unwelcome present for you. Check the float the string is at the top. Clean the tube and the float to be sure it moves freely in the tube. There is a rod with a pin in it that the string attaches to be sure it is in the slot in the tube. This is not a big deal to service for fix. Good luck. Hi John, running up to 1500 RPM is normal for most all alternators. They will
continue to charge at lower speed once they get a shot of 1500 or more. A few years ago I had my 24 volt alternator rebuilt. It really looked new. When I installed it on the boat it wouldn't work. I called the shop and the technician told me to just briefly touch the brown wire to the red wire and it would be OK. I did, and it's been working fine ever since.
