Bill,
Do you know, does he plan to make all these parts or just the two part pulley? Its the plate underneath that the drive pin locates in which is equally important. If he's making ALL the parts I would be interested. Our drive plate has been repaired twice but I don't think it could be done a third time. Cheers Alan Elyse SM437 |

Fire in my cell phone
Eric Freedman <sailamel@...>
A few days ago, I awoke and went to my cellphone to unplug it and put it in my pocket. I noticed the cord where it attaches to the phone was smoldering. While I unplugged it burst into flames. I removed the cord from the charger outlet, and all was well. I then plugged it into another cord and for the last 2 days no problems.
I guess many of us leave the phone on the charger while we are asleep, I guess computers also. Being that the wires are so fine, I believe if left alone it would have just melted and stopped smoldering.
However, if it were near something flammable, what could have happened in my sleep?
From now on computers and all small electronics will be unplugged while I sleep. Fair Winds Eric Kimberlite Amel Super Maramu #376

Hi Alex,
I am concidering doing the same in our 1981 maramu. Would you have any advices on how you did it? Any pitfalls? Any difficulties? Also, would you have a photo of the quadrant and how you installed the angle measuring device? Cheers Ben |

Very timely email. After several emails he finally responded with the freight forwarder info. Tremail in Switzerland. They are not responding to my emails and the phone number is not correct on their website. I do believe it is a legitimate business though. Whomever was successful dealing with the freight forwarder please let me know correct contact information. P.s Bill kid gloves please. He has my money AND parts. I don't want him to go dark again😉 All the best, Chuck Lacey Joy 388 St.martin On Fri, Feb 11, 2022 at 1:01 PM CW Bill Rouse <brouse@...> wrote:

For those ordering or planning to order SM2k Genoa Rebuild Kits Mr. VIGNANDO, the original builder of the Amel SM2k Genoa furler can be a challenging guy to deal with. It took me over a year to get his inventory amounts, photos of the "kit," and price. I never received the requested detailed list of parts in the kit. At one point, I made him an offer to buy his entire inventory, but he went silent for months. When got back in touch with me he acted as though I never made him an offer. I was relieved that he didn't answer my offer because I don't want to be in the parts business. At that time he began discussing these kits. Remember, he is the only source of the original parts. I wish someone else owned the parts. I believe has delivered parts to about 6-10 Amel owners, so far. Your patience will likely be challenged with M VIGNANDO. I am going to email him today and tell him that I am disappointed that ordering parts from him has been challenging for some Amel Owners. I hope that this helps. If you want to know more about the kit, see the following: Bill

Tom Crosbie
Thank you for the lovely welcome everyone.
There is really so much to learn and understand and it is only now that I am starting to fully appreciate the thought and craft that went into the design and build of every part of the boat. I should acknowledge the encyclopaedic Frenchman, Olivier Beaute, who surveyed Saol Eile for us last year - his knowledge (and reassurance) was key to our decision - and we would never have heard of him without this community forum. Re: Introduction - and some help on fridges pls
Welcome to the group. I believe that the first “”real” Super Maramu 2000 was Hull #238 (Maracuya/Belavita/Ouled). She was Captain Henri’s boat and was the demonstrator for the new models. As Ann-Marie said, their boat #232 has many of the am2K features as it seemed to be the trial boat but it wasn’t branded Super Maramu 2000 on the rub rail. They are all fine boats anyway and I’m sure she will give you years of enjoyment.
