Congratulations Ken,

JP has been a great mate for me...Eleuthera berthed two slips down from Elyse in Opua....
JP has kept an eye on, and done more than anyone would expect looking after, Elyse while I'm stuck in Australia
You win a good boat - I'll miss a good mate.
Hopefully after all this is over, we'll see you out there.

Best wishes

Bill,

Do you know, does he plan to make all these parts or just the two part pulley?

Its the plate underneath that the drive pin locates in which is equally important.

If he's making ALL the parts I would be interested.
Our drive plate has been repaired twice but I don't think it could be done a third time.

Hi Tom,
I had Hull number 425 2000 Redline for nine years. We put 30,000 miles on her. We live in  Carrigillihy Harbour, Union Hall, there is a mooring here for you anytime. Or, if we can pass on any experiences just let me know.
Congratulations and fair winds with you boat.

Fire in my cell phone

Eric Freedman <sailamel@...>

A few days ago, I awoke and went to my cellphone to unplug it and put it in my pocket. I noticed the cord where it attaches to the phone was smoldering.

While I unplugged it burst into flames. I removed the cord from the charger outlet, and all was well.

I then plugged it into another cord and for the last 2 days no problems.

I guess many of us leave the phone on the charger while we are asleep, I guess computers also.

Being that the wires are so fine, I believe if left alone it would have just melted and stopped smoldering.

However, if it were near something flammable, what could have happened in my sleep?

From now on computers and all small electronics will be unplugged while I sleep.

Fair Winds

Eric

For those ordering or planning to order SM2k Genoa Rebuild Kits

Mr. VIGNANDO, the original builder of the Amel SM2k Genoa furler can be a challenging guy to deal with. It took me over a year to get his inventory amounts, photos of the "kit," and price. I never received the requested detailed list of parts in the kit. At one point, I made him an offer to buy his entire inventory, but he went silent for months. When got back in touch with me he acted as though I never made him an offer. I was relieved that he didn't answer my offer because I don't want to be in the parts business. At that time he began discussing these kits. Remember, he is the only source of the original parts. I wish someone else owned the parts.

I believe has delivered parts to about 6-10 Amel owners, so far.

Your patience will likely be challenged with M VIGNANDO. I am going to email him today and tell him that I am disappointed that ordering parts from him has been challenging for some Amel Owners.

I hope that this helps.

I am concidering doing the same in our 1981 maramu. Would you have any advices on how you did it? Any pitfalls? Any difficulties? Also, would you have a photo of the quadrant and how you installed the angle measuring device?

Hello All,
First I am delighted to be posting here - this forum is a great resource.
Clair and I recently acquired Saol Eile (For the non Irish speakers Other Life) SM #228 - she is a fab boat and if we can have half the fun and adventures as her previous owners had we thing we will be very happy indeed. I believe she was one of the last of the Super Maramus before the SM2000 update.
Here she is off Cork Harbour, Ireland recently - we are just getting used to everything and we are hope to do a bit of voyaging (maybe to La Rochelle) this summer.

One thing that we must replace is the fridge which is the original from 1998 and is well past its sell by date. The old fridge is a Waeco Coolmatic HDC-120 and I am struggling to decide whether to try to put in something similar again, a drawer type fridge or indeed is there something better. I really want to be careful with my choice as I want to end up with a very power efficient setup if at all possible.
Many thanks in advance

G'day everybody,
I have been lurking and researching.
I have just made a payment for a Super Maramu.
The hull # is 007
As was owned by another member on this site, Mr Jean-Pierre Germain.
I am really excited and eagerly awaiting for Eleuthera as JP sails it to me in Australia.
Here's to many long years of eventual sailing and exploring from the comfort that only an Amel can provide.

Thanks

Welcome to the group. I believe that the first “”real” Super Maramu 2000 was Hull #238 (Maracuya/Belavita/Ouled). She was Captain Henri’s boat and was the demonstrator for the new models. As Ann-Marie said, their boat #232 has many of the am2K features as it seemed to be the trial boat but it wasn’t branded Super Maramu 2000 on the rub rail. They are all fine boats anyway and I’m sure she will give you years of enjoyment
