Position, height and width of the pull handle: the handle is centered fore-aft, and placed 40mm in from the starboard-hand edge of counter-top ((closest to centerline); the handle is oriented fore-aft and is 100mm wide (fore-aft); and is 30mm high.
+
Angle of the sloped wood on the port side (or the height of the console cover and the horizontal distance between the top and bottom): the angle is 42º, as close as I could measure it.

Angle of the sloped fiddle on the starboard side as well as the height: there is no angled/sloped fiddle on the starboard side (it is only sloped on the port-hand side)

Height of the fiddle on the forward and aft edges: 40mm

Re: DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY THE EMAILS i POST TO THE GROUP DO NOT SHOW UP?

Anyone know wht this means: how I read it is that my ISP (asav.iinet.net.au) is rejecting emails sent from "66.175.222.12" (which I presume is 'amelyachtowners.groups.io'), due to so-called 'poor reputation'. Any further insights, or how to fix this?

asav.iinet.net.au: 554 irony-in24.icp.internal.iinet.net.au Your access to this mail system from 66.175.222.12 has been rejected due to the sending MTA's poor reputation. If you believe that this failure is in error, please contact the intended recipient via alternate means.

Re: Machining AMEL-specific tools in NZ (outhaul puller PLUS wrench for the rudder-post-packing nut)

QUICK UPDATE:

Only "official" quote I have been able to obtain thus far for a wrench, machined in SS308, has been over NZD150- (each, for a minimum production run of 4); so I am still researching you find a more acceptable alternative.

I will keep you posted. Thanks to all who have provided info and advice to date (not always seen via this forum).

BTW, I have paid for a CAD/CAM file, which may assist a production run.

Best,

David

Hi all,

Nothing seen from the AMEL users' group via email since 25-Jan'22. Mu ISP is bouncing emails from this originator, due to "poor reputation". I have "unbounced" via my logon to https://amelyachtowners.groups.io, and am waiting for the feed to re-commence.

Best,

David

Hi Martin,

Congratulations on the new addition to your family!

There are some good resources out there for cruising with kids.  There is a book that I have heard mentioned a few times, "Voyaging with Kids".    I haven't read it but it may be useful.

As I am sure you have come to realize, kids really change your life.  Maybe this book can help with ideas for how to handle cruising with your daughter.

Justin

My name is Martijn and my wife and I had a daughter last year. We live in the Netherlands and I grew up windsurfing, sailing and swimming _a_ _lot_. My wife's dad worked off-shore around the world all his life and always came home to her with the greatest stories. We've travelled the world for 18 years and sailed on many occasions. After years of dreaming and 'planning' we're finally able to afford a boat and sail her multiple years.

Our (very rough) plan is: 1) buying a SM (or, when available, a SM2K) this year (or latest in 2023) and 2) start with sailing the med as soon as we can. 3) Our ultimate return date is fixed, around august 2026, because by then our daughter will be ready to go to school. :-)

I even made a picture of our 'plan' (pretending planning something like this is realistic in any way) HaHa!:

Re: Dolphin 24V30A charger manual

Jose Venegas

Bob,
I used the relay from the Victron BMS 279 to control a second NO relay (220/24v power/control) that controls the 220V feed to the battery charger with the breaker left ON when running on shore power.  The relay can be programmed through blue tooth and your mobile APP to turn ON when the battery is discharged to the desired %charge (say 40%) and then OFF when it reaches another desired charge level (Say 90%).  As long as the charger does not exceed the voltage of 28.8 V the batteries will be happy.  Note that if your solar is not enough to charge the 24H boat's electrical load, the batteries will be discharged each night more than they charge during the day. Thus eventually the battery charge reaches the preprogrammed 40% level and the charger is activated automatically starting the charging mode again. In Ipanema, currently in Panama, running the two freezers, the fridge, and all lights and fans the battery charger runs only once every 7 days.  This combination allows your boat to remain connected to shore power with fans and refrigerators ON while keeping the lithium batteries happy and you sleeping well at night without having to buy a sophisticated battery charger.    The battleborn lithium batteries are recommended that every one or two weeks be charged to 28.8 v and kept there for 30 minutes to allow their internal BMS  to equalize the battery cells.  This I do manually bypassing the second relay with a switch in parallel it, when I am on the boat, typically by running the generator to exercise it.
Hope this helps

Re: DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY THE EMAILS i POST TO THE GROUP DO NOT SHOW UP?

Our service used AWS.

The only issues we have is with certain ISPs. Optonline and Yahoo are historically the biggest problems.

Think about it. If over 1000 users do not have the problem you are experiencing, while you continue to have these issues, the probability is very high that the fault is on your side.

I don't know what Bill is using as an email service (Amazon SES? Mailgun? Sengrid?). But it works very well.

Email is way more complex than we tend to think. And it works well most of the time.
Who is handling the email for the domain xtra.co.nz? It may have worked in the past but very few email providers (beyond Microsoft and Gmail) have been able to keep up with tech. Don't forget that they have now to deal with billions of spam emails and they do an excellent job.

A solution is maybe to open a different email like dannyYvonneSimms@...?

Anyone have an idea how to put the bend back in this hook while in place on the pole?  I don't have a vice aboard.

I know there's a way, but haven't figured it out yet

Mike Litsas at Kalamata did some general rigging and canvas work for me in 2018. Nice guy, good skills, easy to work with and happy to follow the "Amel way". I would definitely work with Mike again.

I stayed in Kalamata marina for a couple of months in summer 2018. I liked Kalamata. It's a real town (not just a tourist resort) with friendly locals and I'm sure it's still active in winter time.
