Hi Bill,
I’m not sure what the “here” refers to in your post.  Missing a link perhaps?

la Querida has 3 self contained AC units each with their control switch set. The units only share the sea water pump circulation.

Hallo to the group,

recently I found to pieces of POM but I have no idea what they are made for.
Any idea?

Thanks

Hi Martin,

these are end caps of the housing tubes of watermaker membrans.
Obviously the previous owner works on them or exchanged the membranes. Therefore he must open the end caps (sic!) of the membrane tubes.

Quite difficult to get them off, look at the broken plastic. He works with a grip handle or so…

Best wishes to La rochelle

replacement relais for sidepower bowthruster on an 54

Martin Birkhoff

Hallo to the group,
the relais fitted to our bowthruster is not original for sure and a cause of constant problems. It is an Albright relais but there are no specifications given on the housing. From a sidepower dealer I got the information that the original relais is not available.
Does anyone know if there is a suggested replacement relais?

Attached a pic of the relais as it is know. Easy to see that it is too big. On the right  of the pic to see that a part of the plywood had been cut away by the former owner to allow the bow thruster move up and down.

Re: Housing for Climma Switch assembly

Peter,

The best source is most likely here.

There have been more than a few owners replace AC units in SMs over the years. Is yours a Climma Compact 9 with everything including compressor inside the boat, or is yours a Climma Split unit with the compressor in the engine room?

Does anybody know of a reliable source for the housing pieces, or the whole assembly (with switches) as an alternative.

Hallo Stefan

what a surprise, until to your question we did not reckognize that the spiral springs on our genoa cars are broken too. If there is a possibility to get new ones we are interested.

Jib sheet traveller - resource for new spiral springs or rubber buffers

Dear Amelians,

the spiral springs on our Genoa and Staysail Sheet Cars are nearly all broken.
Thus a flapping Sail causes heavy banging etc..

Does anybody knows a resource to get this special spiral springs or appropriate rubber buffers?
I found nothing.

Best regards

Re: asymmetrical spinnaker

Alan Leslie

We had a "Code Zero" with the same setup, but lost it in unpredicted bad weather in Vanautau some years ago - actually it was my fault, should have taken it down before setting off, but we live and learn.
Now we have an asymmetrical spinnaker with a snuffer which attaches at the foot in the same way as the code zero, but no furling lines.
The hoisting halyard is the same, through a block on the front of the mast head.
We snuff it behind the main when running off and then drop the sausage and put it away.
Very simple, and an awesome sail when reaching, in conjunction with the mizzen ballooner.

Galley sink drain

Alan Leslie

Hello Amelians,

This is actually an old topic, but I couldn't find any definitive answers.
For years we have been rinsing dishes and emptying coffee grounds in the cockpit to avoid fouling the grey water "tank", and I'm tired of that inconvenience.
Has anyone in the group installed a thru hull in a SM to drain the galley sink directly to the sea?
If so, where did you locate the thru hull, as it is almost impossible to have it on the centreline?
Did you have issues on stbd tack with water coming up through the drain?
Clearly any thru hull needs a valve to close it off, so that would solve that issue, but I also thought of having a 3 way valve so the drain could be diverted to the grey water tank when at sea.
Any advice/ ideas welcome.

Cheers

Re: asymmetrical spinnaker

PAOLO CUNEO

One year ago, I installed a Code Zero. I wanted to do without a bow sprit and after a lengthy discussion with the sailmaker ( North ) and the rigger, we finally decided to use, as attachment points, the central roller for the bow and the small aluminium nose at the Masthead end, adding an external halyard.
I was afraid that the rolled Genoa and the rolled Code zero would sit too close for safe handling but, as it was, they resulted perfectly parallel, at a safe distance and worked impeccably, The attachment to the central bow roller is the simplest thing: a dynema closed loop doubled around the roller and blocked by a common shackle to the stay sewn into the Code.
Also the reefing line is a closed loop, brought back to the cockpit and, via a block on the rail, to the electric primary which, giving us (aged couple), the. pleasure of an electrically operated furling and unfurling

The AMEL website has a timeline of the models under the "Our Story" section:  https://amel.fr/en/our-story/

Maybe it will be helpful?

Re: Original inverter on SM 2000

I do not believe there was an option for an inverter, but if you purchased an inverter, Amel would install it during the boat build.

I am not 100% sure of this, but when SM 387 was built, there was a charge from Amel for the installation of an owner-supplied inverter. I was told that was the way things were done.

Hopefully, someone else with more information can answer your question. The following depicts the Amel installation of SM 387.

I can not figure what type of inverter if any have been a standard part of SM 2000 build in 1999/2000. Can someone help me with this? There is 220V for TV and DDV when we are unplugged from 220V, shore or generator. I am not on the boat currently so I can not check by myself.

Thank you.
