cutlass bearing removal
We just used a large pipe wrench and rotated while tapping with a
rubber mallet! No problem! Cutlass bearing was changed 6 years
earlier.
Cover new bearing in dish soap and wrap in tin foil and

Conversely to what you may hear the assymetric is a must on the SM. It is so convenient and efficient. It save you sometimes the hassle of gearing the ballooner.

My SM was not fitted with the optional pulley as the more recent SM are.In those days Amel was a bit reluctant to support the use of an assymetric. One way was to use the stock ballooner halyard but

If you are talking about the stock ballooner halyard, it has a proper location to be tied off. On the side near the hauling plates close to the shroud.
