Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Dessalator 160 causes generator to shutdown but no breakers thrown
Does the onan have a protection system that shuts it down if the salt water cooling has inadequate flow? If so this could be the cause as the dessalator takes water from the same source, the sea

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Dessalator 160 causes generator to shutdown but no breakers thrown
Hi. Kent there is a high load/ draw on the generator motor that is over powering the diesel. It's not a short if it went on long enough he'd have an over heat blown breaker. Second if the motor

Hi Bill there is a small sea cock under the floor in front of the forward head door. On many SM and Maramus it feed the forward head and anchor wash systems.

Hi Mark,
the main sheet traveller is Lewmar Ocean. I´ll put the Spares Catalogue in the files section. To my knowledge the more substantial Lewmar Ocean series are out of production. It is possible

A rather good description of why floating grounds are important, how they are different than bonding systems, and why the two should never meet can be found

Yes, I assumed that Richard was talking about older boats.
I simply asked where the seacock was located. You answered my question.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Salt Water in Bilge in hallway next to fwd head.
Bill,
Richard is talking about older boats that have a local seawater supply to the fore and aft heads. In both cases there are seacocks just outside the head in the “hallway”.
In later models

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Dessalator 160 causes generator to shutdown but no breakers thrown
Kent,
I am not exactly sure of the answer, but I witnessed this exact occurrence after a SM owner wired the new capacitors on the pump motor wrong.
Here is what happened: The Onan momentarily

Mark,
I do not know. But, I would ask a local rigger. Sheaves come in various sizes and they are custom made by several people. My guess is that any rigger worth his salt will help you.

I don't understand how a faulty motor causes the generator to shut down without throwing a breaker. Can someone elucidate?
