On checking other connections for the cooling water. A specialist in Malta who supplied me with a spare transmission cooler told me that these coolers almost never fail unless the hose connectors are

I use a bit of HCL, close the sea cock and pour a small quantity in the basket. Wait 15 minutes open the sea cock and.. the growth should be gone...

I always drop the motor twice a year (also the pin in the outhaul- I use anti seize for that) and load up the motor shaft and the spline in the thruster with waterproof grease. I only drop it
