Ric, It was not that the chain could not go into the locker, the gypsy was not turning due to too much load , which was not that much. I called Lofran today and the rep. told me to clean the cones and

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Slipping windlass
Kent,
I have had the chain slip when there was too much strain on the anchor ( I did not put enough slack in the chain) when coming aboard.

Pat,
Budget marine has the parts in stock. I was so surprised that they had everything I needed last time

Hi, Pat,
Can you tell if the gypsy remains still while the drum turns? If not it may be the internal clutch. When my clutch slips, it clicks...at least when I'm paying out chain and there's a clump

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Santorin ground strap
On Cream Puff (you do not state your Amel type or hull number), the float switch is remove by disconnecting the power supply and pulling the large tube aft out of the clip-in bracket. It is very easy

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Slipping windlass
Pat,
You might want to check the chain locker to see if the chain is piled up and preventing the chain from going in. You may have installed new 3/8” chain and it is not “spread around”,

Eric , I see lofran , Imtra has a dealer in St. Martin , maybe I will tear it down there. Could it not be , that its not possible to tighten it down enough to prevent slipping under load . Pat

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Slipping windlass
Pat,
That sometimes happens to me . I just assumed it was too much stress on the chain and a clutch inside the windlass is slipping. It seems to happen more frequently as Kimberlite 1s now 12 years

Eric, The key that turns the inside cone looked normal. The key inside the windlass had a little play in it as though the groove was slightly enlarged. I put a shim in it , a couple of years ago, but

Pat,
Did you check the key to see if it is bent or broken?

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Roccna Rocks
Kent, I do not think I have a vertical roller on port side. I will look at it more closely , I have never used it, as it does not line up with the windlass and the forestay is in the way. Thanks , Pat

Re: Roccna Rocks
On my Sharki, the Rocna fits quite snugly against my CQR. I keep it tensioned so that it doesn't bang around. My metal smith is making a skid plate with hold downs to keep the anchors locked down
