175 amp alternator

The 175-amp alternator is a double belt unit.
It was a factory option and is definitely 175 amps. I have seen it put out
150 amps. It is a leece-neville alternator.

I find it hard to believe that you have a 170 amp 24 volt alternator running off the front of the engine on a single belt. This is the equivalent of a 340 amp 12 volt alternator which does not exist.

David, as a short term fix try running the gen set to
top off the batteries BEFORE you start the main
engine. And/Or use some belt dressing on the belt to
stop it from slipping. Also check to see if

I have an Amel 54 hull # 25 WINDMILLER II Located in Fethiye.(Turkey)
The 24V alternator 170 amps is on the port side of the Volvo
The belts are getting warn fast and creating a lot of thick black

When we have to store a fuel tank of any kind in the
aft locker we put in a heavy plastic the bag and wire
tie it. That keeps the oders from the rest of the
boat.
We used C-map for eletronic charts
