Paul, I have a Parasailor and I use it without a pole. It's attached to the forestay with an ATN Tacker. It's much more stable than a symmetrical or asymmetrical spinnaker and much more forgiving -

im ready to order packing material for the first Tim and see that it comes in several sizes, from 1/8”-5/8” in 1/16” increments. Which is appropriate for a SM rudder

Note that Trim-LOC says it uses EPDM Rubber.
EPDM is related to polyethylene...I assume that this will be similar to polyfoam. The specs state that "compression Rating Recommended 25%
