Re: Anchor Chain Size and Length
Thank you Jean-Pierre.
I spent 3 seasons in the S. Pacific with my previous boat, Lagoon 450. I used NZ for off season, which was ideal. I had an unforgettable time... I plan to go again with my A50.

Re: SM Chain Counter
Our original Amel chain counter had always worked perfect till we arrived in the Caribbean. I tried everything to fix it myself to no avail then asked Amel here in Martinique who put me onto Pouchon

Ryan,
Amel owners should never admit to the use of duct tape. 😀

Hi Tom,
I don't know how the stock chain counter works, but I was able to fix the one on our boat (I don't think it's original) by duct taping a magnet to the windlass. I'm unsure if the original

It really was a great time with lots of things provided by the sponsors. All of the sponsors want to do it again with the same or increased investment. The marina told me that they will sponsor a bus

Anchors etc
I like the look of the Ultra and do not doubt it is a superb anchor but .....,,££$$$.....it is an expensive bit of kit that I would not want to lose. The 45 kg retails for about £3000 in the UK.

Re: Anchor Chain Size and Length
Hello Theo,
I’ve had a ULTRA since 2015. It has yet to drag if set properly. It is the 35 KG version.
I’ve gone from Turkey to New Zealand in the meantime ; it’s a good looking piece of SS

Hi Eric,
Yes, I use Howes and Biobor Jr. I didn’t think Howes did anything to prevent or kill microorganisms. I haven’t been able to confirm any increase in fuel efficiency with Howes, but I do

Thank you!
I hope the Ultra works as good as it looks. I wasn't looking for a SS anchor but Amel told me that anchors with bars wouldn't fit the A50. So, we'll see...

Hi Kent,
It looks like the general consensus is that the Racor system fitted is good and that I am indeed seeing gremlins that do not exist.
Like you pvc pipe idea. Will do that.
