Re: Volvo D3-110 belt changes
Theo,
The way it was previously (might have changed): Volvo ships the engine to Volvo France where Amel-specific modifications are made. Then Volvo France ships it to Amel.
Have fun with your 50. I

Bill,
My engine is D3-110I-H. The picture I posted is of my engine while it was still on the crate. I am guessing that is the way it came from the Volvo factory.

Steve,
I made a typo...see the revised:
I refer to those as swivel stay bushings, but I am not sure if that is the correct term. During reassembly, those two plastic pieces are to be inserted around

Not true. I’m just tall enough to bang into the mizzen sheet - usually with speed. Still looking to buy your ingenious gas valve ....

Re: Cracks on Keel - Amel Super Maramu (1997)
What is the hull number or complete HIN of this Amel? Do you have its location and name? This damage looks familiar, but I cannot place the particular SM.
First, I would ask the owner for a complete

Re: Am I the only one so stupid?
a) My Amel Sharki #60 does not have a Dessalator.
b) I only close the level pipe as shown in the photos when refilling the water tank. The other times I see the water level by the unblocked level

Re: Am I the only one so stupid?
I think Gehard made a very clever solution. Simple and elegant. On the 54 there is actually an overflow pipe as far as I can see. It drains the excess into the slot where the sliding hatch goes. This

Re: Cracks on Keel - Amel Super Maramu (1997)
It took a hit. Needs to be delaminated a little to see how far the trouble is and decide how far to go to repair. Maybe just a localized area. Needs a expert to check out the whole keel attachment.

Unlike many others we have never done this in our Super Maramu. This is because we are always so alert and thinking. So we have never, ever made such a stupid, foolish mistake in KAIMI.

Gerhard,
I also thought about doing that but then a) what happens when the tank is full and you’re using the Dessalator so the filler is also closed, where does the water go? And b) how do you
