Hey Martin,
I believe when the solar panels and wind generators went on, the run your autopilot full time was less of an energy issue.
But with the newer tender davit, the hydrovane just had to go.

Yes, the bolt for using with line cutter has a V-cut at the head of the bolt. So this was perhaps before adding the line-cutter

No, the plug cannot be used for that in any way. It's just a bolt-type plug with an o-ring to create the seal.

At some point in size, quality, and elegance wind vanes are not used. Surly the Amel 54 is over that line.
