I know what you mean about the money. It was 8 and 9 years ago but we found everything in the US and the Caribbean very expensive. Central America was cheap so unless its changed I'd suggest

We had a similar re-wiring problem. We simply tied a leader line to the electrical wire and gently pulled it through the opening. Once through we re-threaded the new wire back up the
