Some have deck mounted switches, others are on the actual windlass....
Deck mounted switches are easy to find...as are the windlass mounted switches, but it becomes an issue if you have had to replace

Hi Ian,
Interesting that they specified this modification, nice not having to perforate the deck any more than necessary I suppose. Fortunately we only need the rubber caps and rings, but it

The windlass was modified by Amel to incorporate the switches. The difficulty I have is finding the switches with the correct dimensions. I have found them on eBay, almost the right size but not

Re: How to remove the Mainsail furling motor on a 54?
Hi Porter;
I did replace our main furler motor back in 2015 with a new one due to the top seal failure and water penetration.
I do vaguely recall having a similar issue during removal, but I do not

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Toe pulley (headsail)
Thanks Bill,
Yes the Amel pulleys are available at Eu200+ each, that's Eu400+ for a pair, but they're alloy with SS bolts and on a SS shaft...as you know that's not good with sea water

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Toe pulley (headsail)
Alan,
Those dimensions are very different than the Amel original cast pulleys, and the shape is also very different, with significantly less taper.
Amel's design has a 15mm opening on the outer edge,

Re: How to remove the Mainsail furling motor on a 54?
Porter,
I haven't done this on a 54, but looking at the photos, I would bet if you remove the manual furling gearbox you can remove the electric one by lifting it up and out.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Toe pulley (headsail)
Further to this, I've looked closely at the pulley and the groove is actually wider at the outside than the inside.
As near as I can measure it, just under 10mm at the outer edge and just under 8mm at

How to remove the Mainsail furling motor on a 54?
Gentlemen and ladies,
May I please impose a question on you?
Because the mainsail is furling ever more slowly and in a “tired” fashion I want to remove the mainsail furling motor and examine

Should a one owner 2003 S M 2000 be of interest please contact me pjn.mccallin@.... Not sure if I would compare a S M to the 54, no doubt others will give their opinions!

For what it’s worth, this 18 month Amel newbie installed one and been out twice in light winds, dry conditions. So far no slipping.
After first installing, I tried to get it to slip manually, but
