We had ours replaced by Amel in Martinique this year. They just used a knot in each end on a captive shackle, no splice. I suppose the advantage of a knot is that the halliard pulls up tighter

The Dessalator representative in Maine has both the Calpeda pump and an Iwaki Pump which is much less money that the Calpeda pump. The Iwaki pump works fine for my Watermaker which is the same as

Does anyone have a good picture of how the looped end of the ballooner halyard is spliced by Amel. The one on our boat is not original, and probably not correct. Thanks for the help.
