Hi Arlo,
we did a similar project on our Sharki. But I we have choosen a more compact drive from JEFA, which is mounted to a stainless L shaped steel profile, bolted to the stringer.

I think you are on the right track. The key will be having a good robust way of transferring the thrust forces from the ram to the hull so the design of the bracket is important. Remember:

You should not need to prime it, but you usually need to open a tap so air can escape.
The accumulator tank should be set with the pump OFF and the system

Last time I changed the fresh water pump i had to prime it.
I just dropped water through the exit hose.
You might have rust in the pressure tank going into the diaphragm.

Our FEIT freshwater pump won’t stop cycling. I have tried:
- adjusting cutin bolt spring
- cleaning the diaphragm
- changing out the D Squared switch
- playing with contacts
- sanding the brushes
