Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] New Bowthruster unit - cost and in-stock?
Colin,
I would somehow get the thruster area out of the water and glass it over.
I would then put some expanding foam in the thruster cavity.
Finally I would silicone and screw some sort of cover

Hi Colin,
Bad news indeed.
I would think that given you have no shaft, the if you put what remains of the bow thruster in the down position, the seal around the shaft and the foam seal on the motor

Hi sorry to hear of your troubles but as you rightly say it could have been much worse.
I reckon that when pounding to windward there will be considerable pressure put on the seals with no plate

Hi Colin, bad luck. Were you able to retrieve the broken part. It is amazing what can be repaired when you are cruising remote locations away from your 1st world services.
All the best.

adding a fuse to the PCB on the bowthruster is quite simple. I added one to the + wire
on the pcp in a small fuse holder.

Re: New member question
Very exciting, Paul, and early welcome to the DB.
Can't really say anything about the specific boats, of course, but, in general, 3300 on the Volvo should not be an issue if it's been well maintained.
