Main outhaul travller
Hi, I have a broken shackle on the main outhaul car . The bar across the middle of the shackle is broken. When taking it apart today I noticed that there was a crack on one of the end pieces, close to the philips screw, which seems to be more than just cosmetic.
Anyone know whether its possible to replace a) the shackle and b) this small grey "end piece" I have had a look on the Antel website to see if I could find a part numbers but looking at ANTAL's website http://www.antal.it/eng/4110SH_en , using the correct part number, which I believe to be Model #4110/SH, the car looks very different from the one on my boom, so I guess it has been updated. If this is the case, any ideas where I can try and source these small parts, I have tried Defender, ebay and a few other searches but to no avail. thanks

SeaFlo is generally quick to fail Chinese-made.

I’m sure other pumps are made 8n China, but SeaFlo is made to a price point..... Do some research on reviews of the different brands. ~~~⛵️~~~Matt

Re: B&G autopilot installation
I really like the install in your Sharki. I think it is perfect and gets rid of the chain-drive noise. That looks like the Jefa 150 KgM autopilot direct drive unit type I. I think a Mango or SM will need a Jefa 3600 Nm (375 KgM) autopilot direct drive unit type DD2 (12 or 24 volts). Bill

Fresh Water Pump
We would like to convert to a diaphragm type fresh water pump. We are looking two options right now. Shurflo Aqua King II 4.0 gpm (55 PSI sealed switch, shutoff at 3.8 bar, ) and Seaflo Series 54 5.0 gpm (adjustable switch).
1. Is there another pump you have experience with that you would recommend? 2. Given the old FEIT/AMFA pump was 15/30, should I even consider the Aqua King with set cutoff PSI of 55? Many thanks. Ian SM153 Bahamas

Hi Arlo,
we did a similar project on our Sharki. But I we have choosen a more compact drive from JEFA, which is mounted to a stainless L shaped steel profile, bolted to the stringer. Regards, Volker SV Mickmoon; Sharki hull 176

B&G autopilot installation
Arlo
Hello all. I have a 1985 Amel Mango hull # 46. I am installing a new B&G autopilot using the B&G T2 marine linear actuator. The space is tight but It will fit fine. I unfortunately need to cut some of the original plywood top where the starboard mattress rest on for access to the compartment where I plan to have a stainless steel support bracket made to support the torque generated forward and aft and side to side when actuated. Also the Ram will not fit down in the space unless I remove some of the mattress support temporarily. I made sure I have clearance for all hard over rudder angles. I also verified my rudder feedback mechanism will fit.
So having said all of that before I start cutting (which I hate doing) has anyone else installed a similiar or same setup in your Amel? Any challenges or issues I need to be aware of? I attached a few pictures as well and will follow up with more pics once the project is completed. The ram is sitting on top of the mattress support but will be under it once installation is completed. Thanks Arlo

Re: Bilge pump activation switch
Thomas Kleman
Once again thanks Bill. My initial research yielded some plastic toggle switch extensions (apparently popular with the motor-head crowd) but nothing durable looking. I might bring a toggle switch to Home Depot and see if I can find some kind of thin metal tubing to replicate your design.
One curiousity of my crisis last night (happy hour approaching, bilge float not working, need to use the shower).....the Amel supplied switch/mount was inexplicably slightly different in shape and orientation. I had to make new holes and rivet the replacement. Tom and Kirstin SM2K 422 Oahu

Re: Bilge pump activation switch
Thomas, Amel made the one on SM 387 from copper tube. I could not find copper tube when I needed it, but found aluminum tube. See a snippet of a page from my Amel Book:

This switch is an Apem 631H with an extension mounted over the toggle for the strings which attach to the float. What exactly is that extension made of and how is it mounted (by Amel, I assume) ? It almost looks like some kind of heat shrink plastic shroud. It would be nice to have a few of these.

Re: Engine Battery Drain - Is it the Prop Shaft Alternator?
Clive Chapman
You could try disconnecting the engine start battery and see if the voltage drop continues. That would establish if the continuing volts drop is actually due to a dead battery or because there’s an unexpected load remaining connected to the battery
(alternator exciter coils maybe? Alternator regulator failed?).
I don’t know the Amel electrical systems so am basing this on a reasonable knowledge of car electrics.

Engine Battery Drain - Is it the Prop Shaft Alternator?
Alan "Woody" Wood
We're currently in a marina, on shore power with the battery charger on.. and the starter battery (2 year old Victron 110ah) has suddenly died - showing less than 2v! and reducing 0.01v every 5 minutes).
We had our Valeo prop shaft alternator bench tested recently by a local electrician and put back. When he replaced it, the switch for the generator had been reversed.. ie 'on' was now 'off' and vice versa. I suspected the diode had been reversed or damaged in the re-istallation so disconnected the prop alternator hoping this would stop the drain - it didn't - so maybe it wasn't the problem. The Mastervolt Chargemaster 24/100 has had intermittent display problems lately although still keeping the house batteries at 100% throughout.. could that be related? I am at a loss at what investigate next - any suggestions? Cheers Woody SM 1997 Mothership

Last time I changed the fresh water pump i had to prime it. I just dropped water through the exit hose. You might have rust in the pressure tank going into the diaphragm. Envoyé de mon iPhone
