Pat,
Two real highlights of La Rochelle. 1. The regional market on Wednesdays & Saturdays. In the market square there a wine merchant called Jean Marie Floret who officially stocks the new Amels with  complementary wine, he only delivers at high tide so that he has a horizontal walkway to your boat! 2. As an existing Amel owner , then, the guided tour of the factory an experience you will never forget.
Have a great trip.
Best regards,

Is the shore power 50 or 60 htz? (you do not state where you are located)

Thank you for reply. But heater is heating when running 220V from generator.

Re: Dishwasher shore power main breaker off #galley

The Shore Power Ground Fault Interrupt is much more sensitive than the GFI main breaker on your SM. And the dishwasher will heat water until it gets hot enough to open small cracks in the heating element that will be present in any heating element this age.

I am interested in getting new rub rails as well. Have a couple of questions...
Gary Silver said " When you install it you want to make sure that it is installed in compression because it does shrink a bit".  How do you do that?
Also he said it may shrink and I see you are ordering 104 feet. Should we order a little bigger to offset any shrinkage or have you included that in your size estimate (please don't take any offense, I haven't measured the rubrail personally). I have SM328

Thank you

Thanks everyone for your advice. I am anchored of Mikanos and it is cranking up to 40kn. My spade anchor is holding but I am reluctant to start taking cables off the battery switch. However I have made a thick plastic insulator cover that I have taped over the positive cables terminals to the red handle switch. So I can now work safely in the compartment.
We plan to sail for Patmos tomorrow where the Meltemi tends to blow with less ferocity.
I shall track it all down and post the results, but I have a feeling it will take time unless I get lucky.

I had also electrical leak that came from the bow thruster. It came, like Thomas wrote, from the carbon dust. I opened the cover of the bow thruster, cleaned it with a small clean painting brush and it solved the problem.

Re: Dishwasher shore power main breaker off #galley

This is a very common issue. The water heating element needs replacing and as far as I know, there are none available. Another owner stated he was going to have one made in Hong Kong where his SM is located. Possibly he will answer this.

Hello,

Power was on all the time. Next time I tried again and shore power went off, again generator ok. Before going in to deep investigation is there any idea on the forum what might be the issue? Grounding is one that comes to my mind

Hi Thomas and Soraya,

Do you know the distance between the mast head and the connection point just above the door to the guest room?

In 1986, the Sharki, Maramu and Mango all shared the same rub rail. I believe they did throughout the entire production. I sold my first Amel in 1981 and am not sure of the years previous to that.

All the best,

I am not sure exactly on the various rub rails but they are for sure different.  The information I have is that the Maramu and Sharki are the same.  If you wush I will send you a drawing of the die when it is done.

You might ask Joel Porter he may know.

Jim,

I'm curious if your Maramu rub rail might be similar to our Mango hull #62, built in 1986.  What did you send them to confirm the profile?  Are you able to post a picture of your rub rail profile?

I was at Compressed Air Incorporated last week picking up some filters.
Shooting the breeze with the owner he offered he routinely sees 20+ year old Bauers working fine.

Re: A54: Cable length between main mast head and chart table

Hi all,

We have now installed the new antenna and vhf rg-8x cable from Glomex.

We bought the 30m of pre-crimped cable and it turns out 25m would work too, as we measured the minimum length with reasonable slack and bends to be 24.5m.

Hi all,

Does anyone know the precise length of cable required to go from the top of the main mast to the chart table through the standard conduit on the Amel 54? For instance for the VHF antenna cable.

I’m considering using an pre-crimped FME-terminated RG-8x VHF cable and I need to select the correct length.

A contact at Pochon said « probably » 25m and a trusted owner said maybe 28m.

Thanks
