I cannot make any judgement about your experience.
But my experience in dealing with EMEK has been fine. We had a complete davit arch shipped from Turkey to New Zealand without any problem Riza was very helpful and easy to deal with. That was my personal experience. I know others claim to have had bad experience with EMEK...but some people have bad experiences with everyone. Have you contacted Riza directly about this ?? Hi Rafael,
We have had this issue also. The cover /plug can be levered out with a screwdriver under the lip. The only way i found to stop it dripping was to put silicone RTV around it and push it back into the hole. I tried the O-ring replacement and many other ideas but nothing worked. I put enough silicone on it so it squeezed out the edges. Now it doesn't leak ! Good luck Alan Elyse SM437

Rafael: On my SM, some years ago the o-ring inside the cover had split. I purchased o-ring stock of the same diameter, cut it to size, and glued the ends with the best quality super glue. I have not had a leak since. Mark Pitt Sabbatical III, SM #419, Carloforte, Italy

Not a permanent solution as we haven't figured out how yet. But if you lift the grey plastic/composit on the out side up, clean it and the whole and replace it will be tight for a while.

Hello All, I have had in Turkey some Works done on my Amel. It was in Göcek, at EMEK Marina. At this occasion, the owner, told me, that he has a large stock of Amel-parts and can ship them everywhere in the world. As I am actually in Australia, I ordered parts for about 9000€ . I have been told end of February, that all parts are in stock and could be shiped within 3 days. Mid April, the order was placed and the money transfered. Since then, I am told every week, that the shipment is ready, but I got no bill of lading. Has enyone experience with shipments from EMEK ?

Emergency tiller hole

Hello everyone: the deck has a pass for the emergency tiller. I discovered a leak of water into the aft cabin, washing the deck. Two questions: Has any of you had this and how did you solve it? How do you open that cover pass? Many thanks for your help Rafael Amel SM 246 Agapanthe

Removing the sink panel aids when pushing the unit back into place. With the sink panel removed, access is gained to the rear of the refrigerator to ensure the long copper tubing is not pinched when pushing the unit back into place.
I replaced the entire guts of our unit and the compressor. I also wrapped the outside of the box with ½” foam board for some added installation. This made the fit very snug. However, the box cools down very nicely now.

On Nr. 350, we did not have to execute step "remove the sink panel" in order to fully remove the fridge.
We removed the fridge for cleaning in 2014 in Fort Lauderdale and again removed it (twice) about two months ago in Montenegro to replace the white aluminum box (the freezer box), as the original one had lost most of its white enamel and had developed a pin hole. The gas escaped. The pin hole was soldered and the fridge worked again and was reinstalled, but a day later we decided to just get a whole new Frigoboat freezer part so we don't have to worry about that again.

Fuel Tank Sender
Adagio's fuel gauge was stuck on "Full" for a while so I pulled the sending unit out and found it broken. I tried to repair it, but decided against it as should the rod break free (again) I might lose it altogether in the tank.
I shopped around locally and online and could not find a direct replacement. The fuel sender is from WEMA in Great Britain and is 1170mm long. The available options I came across were either 1100mm or 1200mm. I almost opted for the 1100mm sender reasoning that I seldom run the tank that low anyway, but it didn't seem right to not replace original-for-original if I at all could do it. Enter Stuart Bateman at WEMA. He worked with me to create a custom order, direct replacement sending rod and it fits and works perfectly. Highly recommend WEMA and Stuart as his customer service was excellent. The new sender has 20 sensors which offer a bit more granularity than the original one. It is all stainless instead of having a plastic cap with the stainless rod pinned in (which was the point of failure on mine). Threads, resistance (0-160ohms) and length were exact match for original. What I did NOT think to ask about was a non-linear graduation of the sensors (I will have that answer shortly) as I am pretty sure the fuel tank is not exactly 'square' ... or is it? I don't have my plexiglass graduated Amel dipstick but i thought the graduations were not exactly evenly spaced. If I could learn that exact scale, Wema could likely build a more accurate sender by varying the space between sensors. All told, the sender with shipping to Greece was about 200GBP. Hi Colin,
Yes earlier this year we had the steel keel completely cleaned off and refinished, and then antifouled, but that wasn't because of rust, it was because we ran in to something last year and sustained a little bit of damage. Having said that, 3 years ago we had rust on the keel, and that was caused by a broken ground strap in the sump, the copper strap that connects the the ground wires to a keel bolt and then to the zincs on the rudder. The rudder zincs were connected to all the grounds but the keel wasn't. The rust spots were ground back, reprimed and then the whole bottom was antifouled. Cheers Alan Elyse SM437

small rust dots on keel stub?
Hi All We are on the hard for a few days and I have noticed small rust spots on the steel keel lower bulb/stub section only. Possibly around 20 or so very small rust spots no larger than perhaps the back of a pencil diameter each. I guess this is to be expected on a steel keel bulb, but since I am out the water for a few more days waiting for the yard to lift me back, I was wondering if it would be worth sanding those out and putting some anti-rust or special steel sealing paint on then then re-applying micron 66 on top? I noticed some comments on this in the past on this site, possibly where some have completely sanded the keel stub back to bare metal and re-coasted this correctly, but cannot seem to find the files on it. Good afternoon,
I just illustrated the “fridge removal”. I could feel more heat coming from the fridge’s compressor and after I defrost the it yesterday, the fan made a funny noise… So in order to see the problem I had to remove the fridge. Thankfully it was simply dust that accumulated on the fan and the condenser. It is definitely more difficult to access than the freezer’s condenser… almost took a day (8 hours) to (discover how to) remove, clean then put back. This illustration will definitely save the discovery time. You do not need to have Amel doing the work. Does anyone know of Amel Super Maramu's for sale privately? We are in contact with a few brokers and ready to make some offers pending viewing. We were hoping to see an Amel before seeking to buy one, however from what research we have done it seems to be the most ideal boat for us and our 2 young boys aged 3 and 4. We are looking to hopefully get a boat in Europe/America and plan a 2 year trip to eventually sail back to Australia. Any leads to boats available shall be greatly appreciated and advice of what to look for would be amazing. Although l was a Yacht engineer in my previous life, and have done a lot of sailing and racing, I do not know Amels......Yet!!!
