Masse Negative Leak solved
Thank you all for the excellent advice.
I have found and solved the problem... It was the Bowthruster after all. A build up of carbon dust from the brushes on top of the commutator bridged up to the top bearing housing. I stripped down the whole top section, removed the brushes took off top brush holding part. I could then access the commutator and even vacuum out by the magnets. I polished the commutator with 1200 grit and scraped out the grooves. Thanks again Nick S/Y Amelia Anchored Patmos, with pleasant 10-15kn wind. AML 54-019

October 2020 Annapolis - Cruisers University and Sailboat Show
Brian Riggs
Hello All,
We are attending Cruisers University and possibly the Sailboat Show in Annapolis, MD early October. Was wondering if others were planning to attend, and might there be an opportunity to get together for a meal and chat. Cheers! Brian Riggs Future Amel Owner

Re: Rub Rail insert
Hi Pat, Bill Hall, looking to be an Amel owner. Do you plan to leave the rub rail die with the vender? You could also place it with Bill Rouse. Future rub rail orders could contribute for using the die. Would benefit many. Just a thought.
Rob, Maude at Amel said I needed two 16 meter pieces, which is 52.5 feet ,so I am going to purchase two 53 ft. lengths or 106 ft. The 104 came from a post I read months ago and is too short. To follow Gary’s suggestion, I guess you could push the insert every foot after installed to compress it . I also will leave a couple inches at the stern end run long and install permanently and make final cut when the temperature cools to 40 or 50 F. If you decide to join in the group buy email personally with your info. We should try to reduce posts to the Amel site.

I have three different sources for the data you requested. You can choose which one is best for you. Probably the 1 Meg file with pictures is the best.

Hello, Main mast top to the wirebox above front aisle door is exact 20 meters. From there you find a cable canal to the nav table. Oliver from Vela Nautica Amel54#39 Martinique

Hi S&T,
No problem, an approx length is good enough. I want to replace both the VHF and the AIS cables in the resp. masts. Ciao, Arno

Re: Color code of hull Amel 54
Unfortunately, all I have with some certainty for the 54 is the Red color which is RAL 3003 Ruby Red. I suggest you ask SAV"@"amel.fr. Also, there are numerous colors on the "hull & deck." You need to be specific. I believe the 54 has 4 separate gelcoat colors. If you get all of these from Amel, please post here and share the information with all 54 owners. Bill

An owner just made an inquiry about the rub rail purchase, by going back to a post back in Feb. under subject titled “Rub rail insert ,“which brought it to the forefront . Please ,if interested in the new group buy respond to the recent post titled “Rub rail purchase” or better yet email me personally. I will not monitor the old Feb. post, nor respond to it. Thanks,

Hi Arno, With antenna connected up the mast, we needed ~19.60m +/- 50cm of cable to get to the junction. Sorry about the low precision but I’m only confident about the overall length from antenna to the nav station because it was easy to measure the surplus. Hope that helps Thomas GARULFO A54-122 Tahiti

Trevor Lusty
Pat,
Two real highlights of La Rochelle. 1. The regional market on Wednesdays & Saturdays. In the market square there a wine merchant called Jean Marie Floret who officially stocks the new Amels with complementary wine, he only delivers at high tide so that he has a horizontal walkway to your boat! 2. As an existing Amel owner , then, the guided tour of the factory an experience you will never forget. Have a great trip. Best regards, Trevor Lusty Ireland

Is the shore power 50 or 60 htz? (you do not state where you are located)

Re: Dishwasher shore power main breaker off

The Shore Power Ground Fault Interrupt is much more sensitive than the GFI main breaker on your SM. And the dishwasher will heat water until it gets hot enough to open small cracks in the heating element that will be present in any heating element this age.

Re: Rub Rail insert
I am interested in getting new rub rails as well. Have a couple of questions...
Gary Silver said " When you install it you want to make sure that it is installed in compression because it does shrink a bit". How do you do that? Also he said it may shrink and I see you are ordering 104 feet. Should we order a little bigger to offset any shrinkage or have you included that in your size estimate (please don't take any offense, I haven't measured the rubrail personally). I have SM328 Thank you
