Hi Nick,
We had the same problem.
It took long time to solve , because the light was not always ON.

The way to find where  a bad contact between the minus and the grounding system is, is to start from the main switches near the batteries, disconnect each of the cables while checking the light. Ones you find a cable that if  disconnected the is OFF, look for the equipment down the cable and check the contacts and put corrosion x.
We found the problem in the forward locker . We had a leak of water from the new Bad! installed windlass rubber deck switches that created humidity on all electrical motors in the locker.

I have sent a cross section of my rubrail ,from my Super Maramu to Techno Rubber Industries in Fla. ,they will produce a die and sample for my inspection . I intend to place an order as soon as I receive the sample and final pricing. The die will cost me $450.00 ,the rub rail will run somewhere around $11 per ft. ,roughly $1200. The more boats ordering would bring the price down and I would like to share the cost of the die. The rub rail would be slightly off white. Another owner of a Mango has already purchased from this company and was happy with the service and product. Shipping to Maryland where I live is roughly estimated to be about $200.

Hi Arno, 
I checked to bowthruster, I took off the bonding wire but alas no problem there. Tomorrow I will have a check of the windlasses but I did not see a bonding (green/yellow) cable to them.
Anyhow it looks like this will take some time. 
I would have thought the most likely candidates are electric motors with carbon brushes. 

I am impressed by the Amel engineering In general but the bonding is very crude, stripped off cable hose clamped to pipe work does not really do it for me.

However “be to their virtues ever kind and their faults a little blind” comes to mind.

Not quite sure what details would help.   Just want to know from the group that knows the most about Amels, pros cons of the 53 vs the 54 for someone who is shopping.  Is the 54 obviously better and worth the extra money?  Little things like the switch to Bowmar furlers, that now have developed a reputation of not being as good as the Amel made ones on the 53....etc

 

Basically for a person that doesn't know as much , or have as much experience with Amels as you do, which would you prefer and why?

Hi Paul. We had the same exact issue.

 

Volvo sends their standard non-isolated engine to Volvo France, which does the ground isolation for Amel. This process does not get recorded to the serial number of the engine. Therefore, if you order a part from the serial number that Volvo France has changed, you will receive the wrong part.

 

The correct part number is 863169 CAPTEUR PRESSION. We ordered from Gwen Marine Service in France as recommended by Amel. They were 78 Euros each, 3 years ago. We also ordered a spare.

I ordered a replacement oil pressure sensor from a UK Volvo dealer, Volspec. The engineer on the boat who was to do the replacement (as I am not on the boat at present) tells me the part sent is incorrect as it has only one connector pin whereas the old one that was removed has two. Volspec insists that the part is correct.

 

My engine is a D3-110i-C, 2008 model

The sensor p/n is 3545696

 

I would be interested to know if anyone has had any similar experience, or would be able to confirm if the sensor has 1 or 2 pins.

Subject: [AmelYachtOwners] Masse negative leak

Back sailing and all well aboard Amelia here in the windy Cyclades.
Since launching a few days ago I have found that the “ Masse” leak to the bonding system lights up on the negative side.
So far I have checked
1. both WC Motors
2. All the fans
3. Fridge system water cooling pump

There are clearly many potential candidates but the most likely????
Bulge pump? Windlasses? 24v alternator? Electric furlers??

Any ideas as to the most likely candidates?

Heinz,
Your batteries might not be able to handle the current draw of the Bow Thruster.  Take a look at the current draw during Bow Thruster use, and also look at the voltage while using the bow thruster....  Try charging your batteries completely, turn on the Genset, and your charger...  Then try the Bow Thruster again.  If it works, your problem is found..
