Hello
Since yesterday when I tried to park in a box in a marina in Auckland my bow thruster motor failed.
If I turn the beam to the left or right the whole power supply breaks down for a moment. After that the power is back.
I took the rudder off and it can be turned perfectly by hand.
But the same happens with the engine. No power for a few seconds, all instruments off, no rotation of the motor.
Does anyone know this problem.
Does anyone know how I can find out if it's the motor or maybe a relay that doesn't work.
Can I test the motor without a relay, maybe on the 4 cables marked D1, D2, and A1, A2?
I am grateful for a quick answer. Heinz SY Quetzal, SM 2000, 292

Re: Climma compressor turning off randomly
John Clanton
Billy,
I have had the same symptoms, and think I have resolved mine. I found that the power leads going into the sealed compressor unit were just a little loose. I am not on the boat now to look at it, but my recollection is there is one lead that is secured with a bolt, and perhaps two leads that are spade & socket connections. I removed all connections, treated with Corrosion X, slightly crimped the socket connections, then reconnected everything. I had to use needle nose pliers to re-attach the spade/socket connections as the sockets were very tight.
I have not had a problem since then. I assume, at least in my case, that the less-than-perfect connections were creating too much resistance and that the compressor shut itself down.
I hope this helps.
Please remember to put your name, boat info, and location in the signature line so that the group can recommend local resources.

Climma compressor turning off randomly
Billy Newport
Settling in to our new (to us) Amel 55#56. Twice now, the AC compressor has shutdown, no lights, like dead. Air handlers still work, boat is on shore power (US waters, boat is Euro 220v). All systems on shore power appear to be fine.
The fix is to turn off and on the clima system on the AC breaker box in the engine room. Turn it off and then on and the compressor and electronics immediately come on. The LED display shows the usual numbers and then the boat starts cooling down. How can I figure out whats causing the compressor/AC unit to shutdown like that?

Stuart, I was not aware my boat had two shunts and I’m away from the boat so cannot check. But have you asked Amel (Thierry Billard - sav@...) or better yet, Stéphane at Pochon ( stephane@...)? Let me know what you find out! Cheers Joerg

Hi together!
Is there anyone who knows about the HP pump electric consumption? I can’t find nothing in the technical data sheet from Dessalator and any type label on the motor. Thank you Stefan and Anne SM 373, OYA Mayreau / St.Vincent

Just though I’d share this unfortunate experience. I had new membranes last year after 11 years. Just recently there was a boat anchored ahead about 200 – 250m which unknown top me at first had been dripping fuel into the water. This rendered my new membranes completely useless (TDS > 1000) and I now need to replace them again. I was subsequently told that if there is just the slightest hint of fuel in the water to not use the watermaker.
Cheers,
Paul

I think they are under pressure with a reduced workforce and sensibly focussing on the production side. I will give it another week and then inquire again. I assume you have the new common rail electronic yanmar. What is the model number? is it 4jhlte as in your note. What model Amel do you have and the hull number? I might be able to help isolating the battery from the bonding. When you mention ground- are you speaking of the yellow/green bonding wire? Is the battery negative wire connected directly to the engine block? Fair Winds, Eric SM 376 Kimberlite

we are aware of the problem and our mechanic as well. All the engine frame and the head of C transmission are connected to the ground cable. The issue now is that the sensors on yanmarr 4jhlte are connected with the engine CPU and we are understanding how solve the problem. In any case we have the Anode on the h6 autoprop and also on the rudder. cheers marco

Hi Paul,
Whilst on City Island (the self-proclaimed "Cape Cod of the Bronx ! "), stop by the Harlem Yacht Club - "The Friendliest Club on City Island". I was the Commodore back before the turn of the century - mention my name and you'll get a free ice cold glass of water and some "sea stories". Guest moorings are available - tell them you want the deep section out by the channel. They've also got an excellent restaurant which I think has reopened. Cheers, Craig
