I post some pictures of the Bimini/Winter cover we made after seeing Elauthera. It was excellent this winter, the side panels can be replaced by mesh panels that are see through but give excellent shade. My brother just visit us and he is 198 cm and it was just a few cm to low for him.
I exchange  two block with low friction antal rings to get the main sheet a little bit higher to avoid shafe on the Bimini

This is also what we did on Eleuthera and after a winter of living aboard, we have many envious neighbours as we breakfast in our enclosed “sun room”.

Recently there was some activity on the forum regarding the Amel part numbers.

I just put together some of the parts I order over the last 3 years.

I broke in in various section (C Drive, Bow Thruster, Rudder, Electric Switches, etc.)

When possible I post either the picture I used to explain Amel what I needed and/or the pictures they sent me.

I hope it helps a little. I will keep adding as time goes.

http://nikimat.com/spare_parts.html

With time I will add more (such as Volvo engine, Onan Genset, etc.)

If you have parts number and pictures you would like to add, please don't hesitate to send them to me with Amel or manufacturer Reference, Description in French, description in English, price, location and date they were purchased.

As you can see prices vary a lot if parts are purchase from La Rochelle or Martinique or directly from distributor (such as Great Water).

Sincerely, Alexandre

Bill,

My experience is that the OEM Yanmar mixing elbows will last about 1000 hours and begin to develop pin holes along the welded seams. Most owners don't even notice this because when it begins it looks like a line of salt.

Here is what I recommend:
Contact Steve stevew"at"hdi-inc.com. He makes cast stainless steel replacements and sells them under the original part numbers. These are one piece and you can buy one on ebay from Steve for about $270. Steve normally sells these on eBay, but you can save about $15 if you write him and tell him that you were referred by an Amel owner. Here is his eBay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stainless-Steel-Exhaust-Mixing-Elbow-Replaces-Yanmar-129671-13550-/231826692526 ?hash=item35f9f299ae:g:GosAAOxyVaBS5WXr&vxp=mtr

Also, I would have that old elbow TIG welded and keep as an emergency spare. A re=welded elbow will last a few hundred hours...it is only good for an emergency.

A) This is a pretty straight forward project but can anyone give an tips/advise if they have done the same in the past.

B) This is my real reason for writing... The part is 129671-13552 and listed as +/- $700USD. I found the part on a UK based site, HGI Parts ( Yanmar Marine Mi xing Elbow ) for 78 Pounds. Is this to good to be true? I have my reservations about ordering this part for so cheap. I did email the website and the response was "we sell these parts for cheap because we strip out new engines down and modify them for a different application."
