Re: Installation of Electric oven with induction cooktop

Barry Connor
Thank you,
The oven looks small in your photo, 35 litre is much bigger than our Eno 25 litre. What is the brand name and model, I will look it up online.

Dear Ann-Sofie and Jonas,
Thank you for the photos, that is one way to make this project work.
I have just found that the New Amel 60 has the Miele electric oven with induction cooktop.(Too big for the space) If I can not find the solution Penny might want upgrade to the Amel 60 instead of the upgrade to lithium. Could be very expensive!
Do you find that your electric oven is big enough? Could you do a Roast Dinner for 6 people using your oven?
Thanks again for the photos.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for your note.
I did see a Delos video where they changed to Lithium. I could not see that they replaced the old LP gas oven with an Electric oven which had the Induction cooktop attached. I already have a portable induction cook top which is fantastic. What I am trying ti find is a combination electric oven with the induction top attached which will fit into the same space as the Eno fitted LP gas oven. Force 10 sell an electric oven with regular electric cooktop hob which fits the space exactly. Miele have an electric fan forced oven with an induction cooktop, this unit is too big for the space.

I believe they did separate units cook top and oven. The Delos owners do respond on Facebook and are part of this group. Reach out to them. I am sure they would share their experience with you

Re: Blocked fwd shower drain on amel 55.
Hi Billy, welcome to ownership of a great boat! On my boat, the shower also seems to drain slower than the sink but it hasn’t clogged. Both drains feed into just one hose so the problem you are experiencing must be before the junction with the sink drain. I have used a small snake which has improved the shower drain. Good luck!

Check the Delos website. They did what you are looking to do The electric consumption on our Amel 54 is getting high as we are now full time on our boat. We are ready to change to Lithium and also change from LP gas. Planning to install a 5000w 230v charger/invertor Can anyone advise on a suitable change over from our ENO LP gas oven/LP gas cooktop to an Electric oven with an Induction cooktop. Has anyone changed the gimballed LP gas oven/LP gas cooktop to a gimballed Electric oven with Induction hob cooktop? We are looking for a replacement that will fit in the same space. Our searches are only showing electric oven with electric cooktop that will fit, we can not find anything with an Induction Hob Cooktop. Does anyone know why we can not find this combination Would it be possible if necessary to get the electric oven and then attach or change the top to an Induction Hob Cooktop?
Appreciate any help and advise.

Why don't you go on line and look for the Delos story. It is an SM sailing the world. I am sure the videos will show what you need. It's not immediately obvious where the sheets are running. The previous owner or the boatyard also removed all the blocks. I see a lot of potential attachment points, but don't want to leave it all to trial and error. It's a shame I never saw the boat with sails attached. We did the sea trial under engine before we bought in the fall. The sails and running rigging had all been taken down and stored. I am now trying to figure out how it all goes together. It's been blowing hard here the last few days, so there was no thinking about putting the sails on the furlers. We expect calm by tomorrow, so I am eager to get them out of the bags. I wish I could send you some of the wind we are having right now :) Thanks and all the best, Pete

Following the previous advise about proper alignment procedure and replacing the rubber "donuts" in the flexible coupling, I've had no vibration issues after repowering SM243 from a Volvo TMD23 to a Yanmar 4JH4HTE 110 HP.
Good luck with it and let us know how you make out. Kent & Iris KRISTY

There is Fort George Island Marina on the N side of the river across from Mayport a couple of miles up the St John River. Nice people, clean, floating docks, reasonably priced. Lots of traffic and sometimes big wakes, so make sure you are tied off the dock on the inside, I wouldn't leave my boat on the outside where fenders could get lifted from between the boat and the dock. It's a long way from anything so you'll need a car if you're going to stay there a while. Watch the tide as you enter the marina, it really rips! Kent and Iris KRISTY SM243

I repowered SM 243 with the Yanmar 4JH4HTE 110HP. It fit nicely with only requirement new shims for alignment and cutting away small semicircle of the angle iron support to allow for the oil filter. It is a basic Diesel without all the fancy electronics that make them hard to work on. Do check with Amel about your C-drive to make sure it is of the newer, more robust vintage. If older vintage it might not handle the higher horsepower.

Has anyone heard of a refit using the Yanmar 4LHTE 110HP that is a bigger engine (3.5L) probably with more torque to handle big props?
Although not sure dimensions fit.

Re: Blocked fwd shower drain on amel 55.
I found the best way to move a gray water clog is to use a wet-vac to move it with suction first...if that doesn't move it add water and use the wet-vac to blow it to the gray water bilge.

Re: Iridium GO! and the iPhone 11

No experience with the go. Lots of Apple experience. When first linking Apple products sometimes they need to connect without competition. If you have not tried this disconnect the iPad from wifi and turn it off. Then try to connect the iPhone. If that works you should be able to use both the phone and the iPad

I inherited an Iridium GO! when I purchased my SM2 last year and am just now beginning to use it. Thanks to PredictWind’s tech support in New Zealand I can get the system up and running with my iPad. However, my iPhone 11 refuses to connect despite working through everything I could, and tech support, could think of. Anyone else using an iPhone 11 with the Iridium GO! platform and get it working?
