Re: Lewmar acrylic lens replacement on Amel 54
Thanks Bill for the videos. I will definitely replace all pins and bits if I don't get complete hatches. Hi Tuen and Mohammad, Your 54's are #99 and #128. I am worried that you had to replace the seals. Mine is #17 one of the first and I have never had any problems with leaking. Do you know why they leaked? I have seen a little shrinkage in my seals but filled in the gap with some black gasket seal. Did Lewmar change the rubber quality? What will new units be like! Already I now need to check the frame finish, is is a matt or polished finish frame. Sorry Arno for getting your name misspelled. (Uno). Wish boating was not complicated. You do though need to know and understand what traders are about to do to your boat. Best Barry and Penny "SV Lady Penelope II" Amel 54. #17 Sainte Anne anchorage Martinique

Hi Giovanni, Dieter and other’s who may interested, I had to declare my boat as my domicile „CONFERMA DOMICILIO“ which was confirmed by the Marina where WASABI is moored. With these and some documents like the self declaration AUTODICHIARAZIONE“ from the Italian Government we where able to travel without an issue. The biggest problem was to get a reasonable air-ticket, which was finally the case with Alitalia. Bill, The zoom meeting went well , I only knew a few of the owners personally , and recognized a few others names. I think it would be good to ask participants to include the name of their boat under their name. After all that is how most of us know each other ,by the name of their boat. When Diane and I talk about an owner ,we refer to them by the name of their boat.

In my opening remarks, I stated the purpose of our meeting should be 3-fold:
I believe we accomplished 2 of the 3 goals, Social & Shakedown. Regarding my third goal, "Exchange of knowledge," there was not much new to me and longtime members of our Group because most of what was discussed in the two topics had already been discussed on the Group. However, for those new to Amel, the discussion on parts sourcing and standing rigging was possibly valuable.
Over the coming weeks and as we get more input from members of our Group, we will be able to determine if we want to do this again and what changes we want to make to the structure of the meeting.
A warm thank you to all that participated and to our ZOOM administrator Tilo Peters.
Bill

Re: Lewmar acrylic lens replacement on Amel 54
Hi Oliver and Uno, I am searching online the prices and availability for repair and replacement. I have onboard and always use Duralac as any S/S with Aluminum is a problem. I can see already the problem of separating these hatches. I have not found any "PINK" Lewmar lenses for the MK2 medium profile hatches, only clear and grey. The Lewmar Ocean series hatches appear to be pink. Did Amel have a special color lens made? Did Amel have a special order hatch made by Lewmar? All the Goiot port lights are smoked grey. The windscreens and side acrylics are clear. Can any members advise me about getting shipments from the US cleared in Martinique? Thanks in advance Best Barry and Penny "SV Lady Penelope II" Amel 54. #17 Sainte Anne anchorage Martinique

The eindpoints are connected with small screws and a connection part that slides in the frame. The split is across the length axis of the boat with one split between the hinges. To take it apart you must separate the moving part from the part screwed to the deck. Getting the screws out is a pain and is better to be done in a workshop. But first you need to get the hinge-pins out, that can be a big problem as well. On our 54 they used a trick to break the hinge-pins to free the moving part. In the workshop they removed the remains and replace the rubbers. Back on the boat they used new pins and adequate quantities of anti-seize paste (Duralac/Tefgel). I agree with a previous contributor that it may be cheaper to buy new hatches. The problem I saw was that Amel used a high-gloss frame and all the ones I saw had a matte frame. Re: Dessalator DUO 100 - Watermaker HP hose/pipe
Hi Soraya and Thomas,
The hoses are rated for 5,000 psi. They need to be stainless steel braid. Most hydraulic shops will have them. You will want food quality hoses. We are in Tahiti and plan to replace ours here. We have found online several places but due to restrictions, we haven’t been there yet. We had a failure in one of the fittings, the nut cracked. Epoxy putty has solved the problem, short-term.
I have attached the instructions for the fittings (thanks Eric).

Hello,
We are looking for the specs (type, inner/outer size, max pressure etc) of the high pressure hose HP between the HP pump and the 'pressostat' (pressure regulator?).
We have checked online, the dessalator website only shows the fittings without the HP hose, and the company is currently closed due to COVID.
We have the stainless steel fittings that can be reused, and are running Dessalator DUO 100.
Has anyone gone through the exercise of sourcing the HP hose and reusing their own fittings? Any recommendations appreciated.
