Defective pressure relief valve in the oil filter?

Too coincidental that the problem started after an oil change. Try changing filters. ~~~⛵️~~~Matt

Thanks Oliver for reply.
So in that case can I assume that when AMEL yard delivered my boat with the ICOM IC-802 installed this antenna was OEM connected?

Hello,
Yes the antenna wire did blind end behind the master shower lamp. The Antenna was not used with the original Furuno SSB Radio. When I installed my ICOM IC-802 I needed to extend and route the antenna wire to the navseat.
That was on my boat that way build #39.

Is there a way to tell the difference between the original/recall switch and the new/replacement switch? I understand from other A54 owners that AMEL sent the replacement switches and the owners would arrange the replacement locally (and believe also paid for the cost to reinstall).
I have several of these switches on board but cannot tell whether they are new/replacement or the “recall/replaced” switches which I should get off the boat. I don’t like keeping “non-functional” parts on the boat but previous owner had a different approach. For me it works or doesn’t work and if I want to “recycle/repair” I better do it promptly and not “down the road”.

Hi Oliver,
Do I understand from below message that on the A54 the triactic antenna wire/connection dead ends behind the MC shower lamp? So coming from AMEL Yard on delivery this is not connected at all and serves no purpose?

Hello,
You find the mizzen cables behind the master shower lamp. My Mizzen to Mainmast stay antenna wire (triatic??) ended there too. So I had to route it from there to the navseat. There is a cable tube going from showerlamp to alley.
The mainmast wires are accesseble above the forward alley door.

Volvo oil pressure
Paul Dowd and Sharon Brown
Hi all,
I have a Volvo D3-110i-C with low oil pressure. I’m told by the local Volvo dealer that the engine will have to be taken out in order to replace the oil pump. I’m wondering what other factor may cause low oil pressure. Any opinion on this would be most welcome.
A bit of history on the problem. I changed the oil and oil filter after 188 engine hours which was 3 years. I then started getting low pressure warning after reducing from 1100rpm to idle. I checked the oil level and topped up to the top of the mark. After a couple of days I started getting low pressure warning whilst running at 1100rpm (to heat water). This was confirmed when the engineer attached a pressure gauge.

unique Amel headstay turnbuckle
amelforme
Hi Craig and I was just on the phone with Roger Underwood and he does indeed have the special turnbuckle but neither one of us can remember if the one for the Santorin is the same as the one for the Super Maramu which is the one he has. No worries as he has a machinist make them up locally and I recall they are about the same price as the ACMO unit. Roger is going to check on that price and get back to me. Additionally, Nance and Underwood use metric wire and fittings, not inch stuff ,as was mentioned in the Zoom meeting recently. Since 1988 they have supplied about 100 replacement rigs to Amel boat owners. They know how to make Amel owners happy . They also know how to ‘tune them tight’ which riggers not well experienced with Amels are reluctant to do. Roger is not my cousin, just a good friend, and all I get is the knowledge that the job will be done right, no monkey business, on schedule. Say hello to Katherine and lets bump elbows when we are once again allowed to do so…

Re: Sail Plan - Super Maramu
Hi Bill,
How do Nance and Underwood handle the "special turnbuckle" on the headstay, which is shorter than standard ones? I used ACMO last time and, of course, it's not an issue with them, but since we're back in the States I may want to source locally. Thanks, Craig

Cable feed into Main and Mizzen masts on a A54
Dear forum,
Does anyone have drawings, pictures or other information on how the cables are routed into the mizzen and main masts of a A54 and how to access the cables for the mizzen? One of the things I'm still wondering is where the antenna cable from the triatic stay is going to. I also want to replace some of the other antenna cables as well as the cable for the (quite useless) Immarsat phone for something more useful. Thanks in advance, Arno Luijten SV Luna, A54-121 St. Martin

Re: A54 lewmar chain counter setup: check yours!
Hi Thomas,
Actually I found out the very same thing when I replaced the chain counter. Mine was getting pretty bad with the the LCD readout. So when I replaced it I found the same issue. One of those thing easily missed during commissioning of a yacht I guess. But It's better then the other way around, thinking you set out 30 meter and only doing 20! Cheers, Arno SV Luna, A54-121 BTW I'm having great results with the replacement of the Buegel with a Spade 35 kg. It grabs very fast and sits much better on the bow.
