Re: My Plotter has stopped providing CTS information
Thank you for the suggestion on heading sensor but that does seem to be working as the autopilot on auto or Nav works perfectly.

Dear Mark

I have this style of alarm and it works well so long as the battery is good and all connections in the battey compartment are also good.
The pump that pumps out the grey water in the engine room could help with the flooding as i too flooded my freshwater, I now sit focused, like when refueling, watching the water fill. What I have done is put a “y” toilet diversion valve inline. I have
the original suction going up through as original but I have fitted some cam lock fittings and about 12 meters of hose so I can now reach most disasters by switching over the “y” valve and pump out the remote areas.
The other thing I installed was a “t - fitting“, valve and strainer on the main engine raw water cooling line with another pick up into the bilge incase the grey water pump failed or I can use the motor as an emergency pump if needed in an emergency.
Cheers

Hi Ulrich,
If you contact Leean Ali at Spurs and give her your information she should be able to tell you the size you will need. Spurs also sells replacement parts and rebuild kits. I believe if you ship them your line cutter they can preform a servicing and rebuild on your line cutter and ship it back to you too. Re: no bilgepump in saloon Am54
It is loud. I can clearly hear the alarm outside of the boat with the hatch closed. Also, if you want it louder, the water sensor is on about 2 feet of wire. So, you can put the sensor in the area you wish to detect water under the floor and the alarm can be mounted higher up and not obscured or muffled by the floor.
With best regards,
Mark

been to install water alarms in the compartments. These are available for about

Olaf,
Assuming that your Onan is the same that Amel installed and has not been modified, Amel ordered the 12 volt isolated ground version. If your current sensors have 2 wires, that are for the isolated ground version.

Unfortunately, the exercise did not go well and, in spite of having proper oil in the system and water circling around, after a few minutes there was a change in sound accompanied by smoke and, after immediately turning off the power the motor seized. So it seems that this is the end of the road for this motor. After opening the motor I noticed some burnt wires (those holding the electric wiring) and realized that the high-pressure pump bearing was shared by the motor, which means I cannot take the motor alone to a shop for possible repair but will have to be the full assembly. -- Cheers Paul Ya Fohi - Amel 54 #98

Re: Self Insurance
VLADIMIR SONSEV
I am interested in group insurance but not in self insurance. Vladimir SM 345 "Life is Good""
This is a rough outline of a self insurance or shared risk co-op, that I sent Kent and thought I would share with the group. It was prompted by the hassle I have had with obtaining insurance, the restrictions and expense. Bill suggested self insuring and just buying liability insurance, however in the event of a total loss, it would be a big financial hit, that I could not afford. However, if I could share that risk with even ten others or better yet many more, it would soften the loss. When you consider how few Amel's have been lost outside of a hurricane zone, the risk seems very low, and yet we need to insure against such a great financial lose.

I guess persistence pays off. I have been in contact with ACMO and after several rounds of photos and engineer directed attempts to "clean" the chrome, they have agreed to send me replacement turnbuckles provided I send them the ones with the defective chroming for analysis. We are finalizing the shipping arrangements. So Gary if you are having the same issue perhaps it is worth it to give them a call. Regards, John John Clark SV Annie SM 37 Water Island, USVI
