shipping freight to La Rochelle

markmpitt <no_reply@...>

Hi all:

My new Amel will be delivered to me in La Rochelle in October. Can
anyone recommend a freight forwarder to pick up safety and other boat
gear and personal effects and deliver them to Amel? Thanks.

Dear Terry and Dennis, If you remember, the Maramu "Popeye" also had
falling headliner ( not as bad as yours ). When I get around to it I
will replace the headliner with a rigid material that is commonly
used in residential bathrooms sort of like panelling). I think the
trade name may be Sanitex (??)but I am not sure. It can be cut to
shape with a sabre saw and attached with battens. Since it is used in
bathrooms it is water resistant and easy to clean, having a slightly
pebbled shiny white surface. It somewhat resembles the headlining
materials used in many large boats that I have seen at boat shows.

I would very much appreciate your sending me the parts catalogue. The email
address to use is

ecinc@...

Please do not send it to the address I sent this request from - the mail
server cannot handle a file that large. The ecinc mail server can handle
files up to 25MB.

Thank you

We have a PDF-File "Parts-Catalogue for MD22 and TMD22".
Unfortunately it is too big to load to the file section of the Amel-
Owners-Club, because it has 12 MB in size. Anyone, who likes to have
this manual, can send us his email address to hns154es@... and
we'll attach the manual to an email.

Washer Dryer Manual in English

John & Ruth Martin <jjmartin24@...>

Folks

In case it is useful to anyone, enclosed is a manual and diagrams in
English. While it is not clear exactly what Thomson model is described, I
received it in response for my request for an English language manual for a
Thomson Australe 3 washer/dryer as equipped on our 1998/99 SM (#248).

I've also inquired of the Eumenia company for an English manual on the
dishwasher with no luck so far. If anyone has one, could they pass it on
somehow ?

Thanks alot!

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Wind Generator

Ian Shepherd <g4ljf@...>

David,

I have fitted an Air Marine 403 on the top of my mizzen mast. It's much lighter than the Kiss, so don't put one of those up there! I have given details on how I dampened down the vibration using special mounts from AVM Ltd in Farnham. You should find my input on the owners web sight. Noise is really not a factor if it's mounted up there, but vibration is. The wind speeds is greater aloft, and often I am charging when deck mounted generators are almost stationary.

The downside is that my turbine bearings failed after one years use. This may have been exacerbated by the fact that as the yacht rolls, a precessional force will be exerted on the bearings at right angles to the movement of roll. On the other hand, it may have been coincidental. The manufacturers have replaced the bearings free of charge.

Their Air-X model is somewhat quieter than the 403, but they have not yet solved the RFI problems with the circuitry that controls the blade speed. I would rather have quiet SSB reception, so I have stuck with the 403.

Good luck on fitting one to Gallant. I found it to be a worthwhile investment, especially when complemented with two 120W 24V solar panels.

Best Wishes

Ian Shepherd

Do not get the American Aeromarine as you will not only suffer from the
noise but will also be very unpopular with your neighbours.
I saw a test report of a new type in a British Yachting magasine a few
months ago. It was on a generator which was on a transom mounted bracket
and could be fitted with a water propeller and pivoted down into the water
for downwind sailing or pivotted upwards fitted with an air fan for use at
anchor or not down wind.
Whichever one you pick put it at the top of the Mizzen or on a pole aft.
In 1989 I fitted mine on my then dog ( Oyster woof woof) just above the
radar and then discovered that I could not use the mizzen staysail.......it
doesn't damage the sail. it just stops both sail and generator from
working.

Good luck Anne and John Hollamby, SM 319

I think you have made the right decisions. The davits are good ,subjct to
the points I made and they have one great virtue, they are not only elegant
but also light in weight and weight at the ends of the boat is bad for
performance.

Great News...I have just heard from Bruntons Autoprops that mine (AP 3270)
is not required for recall.

Am thinking of fitting a wind generator to my Super Maramu
(1995).
Some of them seem very noisy though - can anyone recommend a make
which is both reliable, efficient and quite?

Anyone have experience of installing a wind generator and if so
can
you share any advice on best location, wiring etc?
