Just did the anti-fouling on my A54 and 20 L is a good estimate. You probably can get by with 2 liters less.

 

I used much more because I decided to apply 3 coats

Gearbox for outhaulAmel

For a few weeks or possibly months, the outhaul furler has been slower than the main furler on my A55.  Amel had me check the current limiter - it’s ok - and then had me check the current when furling.  The main furler was about 15A, the outhaul however was 60 to 70 A.  The diagnosis is that I have a failed bearing in the gearbox for the furler.  I’m only 200 miles away from my winter location- do I need to deal with this issue now?  How difficult is it to take the gearbox off and replace the bearing?  The boat is from 2016 so hopefully I don’t have the problem with the seized shaft which has been the topic of lots of discussions on this forum.   Many thanks for any thoughts.

Dear Amelians,
On the pic you see a beige plastic part that connects to the grey tube. It's dripping water. I'm trying to disassemble, turning, pulling, pushing...no success  It stays where it is and the grey tube doesn't come out.. I don't want to apply to much power as I don't know that plumbing connector. Could you help and provide some advice?

Before you remove the motor you have to determine if it is electrical or mechanical problem.
Reverse polarity on the motor and see if it rotates.

My old chain came with the boat in 2005. The former owner never changed. It looked unsafe after 12 years. Stainless can break immediately from tiny little rust holes (I believe the English word is pitting).

We applied 3 coats of micron 350 last year in Malta. The boat has been in the water since and the result is fine so far. We had used micron 66, when it was available , and it worked fine for 3 years in the Med.  micron does recommend 3 coats if you intend to go a full 2 years or

Hi David 

Depending on what antifoul is on there already, you should find this out and check what you can use next or how to prepare 

Once the hull is prepared and you know the gel shield is good 2 good and thorough coats of international 350 is what I would recommend as I have used this and international micro extra UE for many years and it should last at least two full years, it’s worth the cost compared to cheaper products that may not last as long, of course this is my experience 

You may want to check the difference between international micron extra eu, I’m not sure but maybe formulated better for the Mediterranean 

Of course supervising the preparation and application is well recommended as preparation is as important as application and the correct product 

I once achieved 3 years out of two good coats of international however I did need to dive every few months during the third year to remove some growth, which you should do regardless to polish your prop and other fittings

Hi Joerg,

We installed 500W worth of panels on our bimini - 5 x 100W. We did not have the budget (or eye) for a solar arch.
I designed the system such that each panel has its own charge controller. When not sailing, we bring the boom to one side, so only one panel (out of five) is shaded at any given time.
In the Caribbean, we got 80+ Ah each day (@ 24V), which covered most *but not all* of our energy needs.
In peak summer in Boston, we can stay on the hook indefinitely (many sunlight hours and less refrigeration power needed).

The most productive position is aft over the dingy davits and if possible above the height of the mizzen boom, I expect this is why there are so many solar arches added to the aft these days...

Does anyone know if it does thread in and is it a replacement part?  PA this is not on the bobbin side. Thanks for your time.
