It disconnects the batteries altogether. There is ‘only’ one pair of poles on the battery. I’ve seen lithium setups where the loads and the chargers were on separate pairs of poles. If that is your case, i guess you could put the relay on whichever pair is appropriate. On a side note to follow up on the 90%SOC management in the MasterVolt set up, i programmed the ‘battery full’ event to put the MPPT in float state, where it feeds amps as per the load requirement and only drips a few amps into the batteries. It does not seem to go back to ‘bulk’ if the SOC drops back below the ‘battery full’ level, bit it would based on the “return to bulk” voltage. The next day it automatically switches back on with daylight in bulk mode. I also set the Alpha Pro alternator regulator charging mode to “suspended” upon the ‘battery full’ event. Again it does not fall back to charging below that level, so I created a button to turn the charging ON/OFF manually. I need to test what the float mode of the alternator does to see if that’s a better state. I haven’t tried the battery charger yet but I guess i would just set it on float state and it should just feed the loads and keep the batteries at 90%SOC, for instance for long term on shore power. Do your ML7720B disconnects completely disconnect the battery? I would like to simply disconnect the loads, but allow the charging circuits to remain intact as our Victron VE.BMS has separate triggers to cutoff charging (overvoltage or over temperature) and load (under voltage). I talked to Victron about using three BP220 load disconnects, one for each battery, but two problems arose: (1) the BP220 is not bidirectional with respect to current and (2) I don't want to disconnect the battery, just the load. -- Scott 2007 A54 #69 SV Tengah http://www.svtengah.com

I can say that the March Brushless won't work if you're cooling the fridges with fresh water. I checked with Davis’ Pub (Eastport) for Thursday evening. They do not take reservations but said they are not too busy between 5:00 and 6:00 so seating for 10 or so should not be a problem. Aletes would like to host an Amel maintenance/repair forum on board either Thurs or Friday afternoon of Boat Show week. The idea would be to share everyone’s experiences with some of the unique equipment on our vessels.
Possible topics, and please add to the list, might include: Bow Thrusters, furling gearboxes (motorized and manual), battery strategies, deck finish (restoration and striping), anti-fouling, hard-won lessons and other tricks.
We’ll do it if there is interest, so let me know which day and additional topics. Bring your issues and get the insights of others.

May I chime in? I have a 2 roll up companionway covers. One is a blackout cover that snaps on & rolls down to allow crew to turn on lights below without the loss of night vision for watch. The other.is a roll down screen that snaps in place at top. Both 1
piece and rolls up for easy storage. Screen has cloth edges for snaps & weights at bottom.

We had a stay sail installed a few years ago in Turkey. Olivier had a look t it and had nothing negative to say about the installation. However the cut on the jib it self was not good. This year when our heard sail swivel broke down, it was a great advantage to have the stay sail. The same when our Genoa started to delaminate and falling apart on the way to the Azores, from Bermuda again it was great to have a stay sail. It will save on your genoa who will not need to be deployed in have weather up wind sailing. I do not find the stay sail to be an obstacle when tacking. First if going up wind we do not tack very often from 30 minutes to maybe 3 hours between the tack. Second we furl in ca 50 % of the Genua during the tack which we did even before we had the stay sail.

My staysail is not from La Rochelle. However is was installed by Caraibe Greement (just down the dock from Amel in Martinique) per Alban's instructions regarding how it should be done. Very robust bracing and backstays along with the dos and donts of using it.

I am of the mindset, the simpler the better. We made this companionway screen for Cream Puff from scraps we had left from a full cockpit screen enclosure we made. Some places we have visited were quite buggy and having the cockpit screened in allowed us to still enjoy the topside without applying massive amounts of insect repellant. The companionway screen stays up almost all of the time when we are not sailing. It is constructed of pet-proof screen (available at most hardware stores. The screen is fastened with two snaps at the top corners. We sewed a vinyl border on to stiffen the screen. In the lower hem is a PVC pipe filled with sand to weight it. It is very easy to flip up out of the way when wishing to exit the interior of the boat. Works like a charm. The screen also give us some privacy below when stern in at a marina.

On my Maramu, I had my staysail (trinquette avec enrouleur sur étai fixe) installed by Secteur Blanc in La Rochelle. The owner/manager has been working for and under Henri Amel for twenty years or more. They know what they are doing.
