One of the best upholstery guys we have run into is a guy by the name of Ebrahim in Didim Turkey.
He made a full winter cover for us in 3 pieces that has held up as new after 5 seasons of use in the Med where 50+ knots of wind are common. He also made a memory foam mattress for the master that has given us many great nights of sleep. As honest as they
come, a physics professor and a good guy.
We also referred another Suoer Maramu owner friend of ours that replaced all of his cushions and was very happy.

Joerg hi john is right Cascais anchorage is excellent, the bottom is sandy, very good and i spent there dozens of weekends. It will be uncomfortable with southwest winds, but the Cascais marina when the weather is very bad allows you to dock at the waiting pier. I'll try in Cascais marina to get a berth for you but next monday What is the name of your boat ? José Alegria

Annapolis Boat Show--Harmonie Open Boat--Oct 12
Karen Smith
In addition to the other meet-ups around the Annapolis Boat show, we will be hosting an "open boat" onboard Harmonie SM160 from 4 to 8PM on Saturday Oct 12. We are docked at Burt Jabin's Yacht Yard, a short water taxi (or dinghy!) ride from the boat show in Back Creek Annapolis. Refreshments will be served...
Harmonie is fresh from a summer cruising Atlantic Canada so great cruising stories will be available to swap. We'll likely be in the middle of some projects, so the boat might not be in showroom shape, but it will be a more informative visit for all that! RSVP to kls6917 (at) aol.com Looking forward to seeing our fellow Amel owners (and potential owners)! Karen Smith & Bill Kinney S/V Harmonie SM160 http://fetchinketch.net

Joerg,
We stayed in the Cascais marina last year, and there was a fairly large anchorage just outside the entrance. I have no knowledge of the holding, but there were some large boats there.

I was in contact with a friend 5 minutes ago sailing in Turkey. There is schwarzewolke.com and the attached business cards from 3 others working well in Marmaris. Charles, Initially I reserved a table for 8 then 12 and a couple of days ago called and asked if we could get a table for 16 . We now have 15 coming ,so I guess we can squeeze in 17 ,so please join us. I will not ,even if possible try to get a larger table ,I don't think they want to hear from me again. So if anyone else would like to come ,please just show up and you probably can get a table nearby,we will be upstairs.
See Ya There,

Re: B&G Hydra 3000 True wind direction
Hi Wolfgang,
I noticed exactly the same problem when I bought Stella. I’m pretty sure that my system was configured as original from Amel. (Previous owner did not change anything). I cannot find out right now exactly what source setting I used in the Hydra, but I’m fairly sure it’s not 16. BUT the important thing is that you need to make sure that the Navnet3D system is actually connected to, AND is sending out heading data to the Hydra. This is configured in the setup/installation process, and on my boat this was not turned on by Amel/Pochon. So, in short the process is: 1. Find out which NMEA data Out port on the master MFD is physically connected to the Hydra. 2. Make sure the MFD is configured to send heading data on that port. 3. Set up the Hydra to use that data. I’m sorry I cannot tell you which port numbers to use because I’m travelling at the moment. Regardless, your boat may not be wired exactly as mine, so you should go through the process yourself. Hop that helps a bit. Regards Dean SY Stella A54-154 Sent from my iPhone X

Re: Furuno “Loss of GPS”/DOP Error alarm and AIS help
Hi Tony,
The Navnet3D system has a failover action with GPS that I’ve observed, which may be relevant to your problem. Typically there is more than one GPS data source available in a system. In my case it was the FA50 AIS and the GP150. The source to be used is selected as you step through the system installation process. In my case it was selected to be the GP150. If during normal operation, the source of GPS fails then the system automatically changes to the other GPS source. In my case, the GP150 failed and the system started to use the FA50 AIS as the source of GPS. I knew nothing about the change, as the system just did it automatically. It took some time before I noticed the GP150 had actually failed and was not supplying GPS data anymore. This does not help with the question of why your GP150 is faulty, but may help in your understanding of what has happened in your system. Furuno would not repair my GP150 so I bought a a couple of inexpensive GPS antennas with NMEA outputs and located them behind the instrument table. They are now my (dual redundant) primary source of GPS for the system. Good luck! Dean SY Stella A54-154

Re: EPIRB mounting location
Hi Vic,
One of our very clever crew members found a great spot for it. Kelly built a sturdy mounting board with rubber feet and then the other crew member lashed the whole assembly to the mizzen mast above the outhaul winch. It's out of the way, reasonably unobstructed, and much less likely to get released by a wave than a rail mount. I've attached a photo.

Re: [Amel Yacht Owners] Re: Main Sail Furling Motor Issue
Beaute Olivier
Hello Mark, I got your private e-mail too. The grease originally put in the manual furler (mainsail or mizzen) is silicone grease, rather sticky and water resistant. The furler is rather resistant to water ingress but it is true that this "anti dust lip seal" on top of it is important. The lip seal at the winch handle nozzle is important too. During a survey, I always test the manual furler separately, mainly to check if there is not too much resistance that could disable or overload the electric furler. This test should be done once a year, just to make sure the manual furling is easily working. Olivier
