Check out Agmar Marine's Partheni Boatyard next to the airport on the north end of Leros. Very skilled workers and, although I didn't have painting done, I did see their work and it was exceptional. It was several years ago I was there, but have heard from others that's it's still good.

Bill- I definitely have no accumulator tank in the circuit. I just thought all these years that the basic 40 had a relief valve set too low (7 bar ?). These relief valves tend to last me 1-2 years (I buy them in bulk). Can you send me a pic of the correct setup ? I've never seen one.

Hi all,
I have a problem with the paint blistering on my spars and wanted to get them repainted. I am in Greece and wondered if anyone had any experience with a project like this, in the Eastern Med. I'm guessing Emek in Turkey is a possibility, with their Amel track record. Cleopatra in Preveza declined. Any suggestions?

We´re planning to ship our Amel 54 from Phuket to Europe next year.
The shipping company need some documentation and all measures of the boat.
Is there anyone  else within this forum that have done this and maybe have this plan/drawing in place?
I have tried to find it in our Amel owners manual and in the Amel users guide but unfortunately I can not find it anywhere...

On a brand new water heater they have a plastic plug in the connections. This may have been pushed into the connection. This can happen in transit.

You didn't say, but the obvious would be that you mixed up the connections between the engine and the the water system. This is easy to do, especially because the orientation of these connection change between different model heaters. If, you have the above issue, you likely have some engine coolant inside the hot water lines and will need to completely flush it out. 

Additionally, I have seen the copper Amel-made connection elbows become completely clogged. This is easy to see and clean.

We do love the boat, it’s manageable, stable, comfortable, and safe. I do agree with Ian, that it’s a bit simpler than the SM, less expensive to buy and own, but a washing machine and stand up walk through to the aft cabin do have a certain appeal…….

Not sure if you have looked around a Super Maramu? If your budget can stretch, the additional space will be most welcome if you plan to have guests on board on a regular basis. If you plan to sail solo or as a couple, then the Santorin, Maramu or even the Sharki would be perfect.

Thanks Kent-. Super helpful. As luck would have it I'm escaping Panama's rainy season for a month and will be in Germany in the next 2 weeks. I will just find the German Home Depot equivalent and buy them locally with no adapters required, I assume. Just need to add plumbing terminology to my limited and rusty German language capabilities.

I think it is also not possible otherwise, since the generator must switch off yes when the batteries are full. 

I also find the power of 5-7 A at 24 volt not so bad. 

have you tried to change the slope of the propeller, this is possible.

Mounting; as I have a stern platform it was rather straight forward but do not see that it should be more difficult without the platform, I attache a few photos om my installation.

I have a W@S on my 55.  I use it for longer distances - overnight trips.  I find that together with wind generator and 400 W solar, the hydro covers all or almost all consumption with 2 fridges and a freezer and the autopilot running all the time.   I sometimes have to turn it off because the batteries are full. I have not re-programmed the regulator.  I have tried different size props and interestingly the smaller one seems to produce more current.  The one downside I have seen is that it needs to be on the leeward side except in very light reaching conditions.  Otherwise it will come out of the water.  So on the 55 you really need two because switching sides at sea is not possible.
