Re: Amel France and Bill Rouse

Hi Bill,

I had some concerns about this when you first started using the Amel School name for you product and started using their logo. In retrospect perhaps I should have mentioned something back then.

In any case I had some additional ideas that perhaps could be helpful but to make sure that they're not superfluous I think it would make sense if I saw your response to Amel first.

All of us who "know" you support you and understand that it is in everyone's best interest including Amel's, that we all have a harmonious relationship.

Having said that, I am thinking that a disclaimer and a new logo are likely in Amel School's future.

Sincerely,

Jim.

Thanks for your comments. The support people were working on this yesterday and last night. Frankly, they "pushed the button" without me knowing they were going to be so quick and surprised our moderators and me...sorry about that.

I think we all are going to like what we have...I see some clean-up required in re-naming photos, but we had that issue before, but Yahoo gave us no way to re-name them.🙈

Keith Carter <keithcarter88@...>

Hi Bill

As you know I’m regretfully selling Guma, but ‘once an Amel owner, always an Amel owner ‘!
I treasure the time we spent on Malta but even more the advice you gave me directly and indirectly over the years. Advice you freely shared with literally hundreds of fellow Amelistas.
The old Yahoo group was a trove for us all, much of its content thanks to you. But it was really clunky to use and I for one was rather discouraged from active use. I was delighted but not surprised that you were behind a new and hugely improved Amel owner site. I was intending to thank you before Monsieur Uptight at Amel wrote his letter. He only reinforces my wish to express my appreciation.
Trying to see things from his perspective, he is rightly proud of his product and therefore jealous of his brand - an important asset of the company he runs. However, if he knew you I think he would embrace your efforts. If you wish I will reply to him, in French, in this vein.
Keep up the good work, Bill.

Kind regards

Keith

Hi all,
Thanks for the reply Mark, Pat and Alan.  Alan it is a coller under the white housing you do not see unless you remove the motor from its protective shell. I am having one fabricated now. Live and learn. Mark had it right. Be specific, don't assume and exchange photos prior to ordering.

Thx,

A word of advice to owners replacing the sail motors. I had the same experience as Chuck. So, when ordering another sail motor from Amel I asked and paid a little extra to have Amel put the necessary attachments onto the motor. I sent Maud a picture with instructions to “please make and send me this complete unit”. Of course, Amel sent me an eact replacement and all I had to do was fit it. It wasn’t cheap but it was a perfect match. They even labeled the wires and sent a picture of connections to make.

On a side note, in my dealings with Maud, I have found she is more than willing to take a picture of what she is about to ship to you.

With best regards,

Someone mentioned they had one fabricated. Has anyone had one of these fabricated and have the dimensions also how is it attached to the motor glued-screwed? I do not want to disassemble my outhaul motor to measure if I don't have too.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gary et al,

Watch out if your TMD 22 significantly exceeds 2800 rpm under load. It could indicate the turbo waste gate is frozen resulting in over turbo pressure. This can lead to serious engine damage.
