Hi Ken,
Interesting to see what you have done. Do you know the weight of each battery ? Maybe in all about 1/3 of lead acid ?
Have you noticed any list to port ?

Yes, this is a problem with the start battery. I may have to carry two start batteries. Ken

Re: Best Sailrite flightcase storage in A54?
Hi Arno,
yes, to center the most heavy stuff most middle and most deep in the ship, this is the main reason, why I will try out YOUR position of the sailrite under the dining table in instead of MINE under the front double berth. Just have already a lot of very heavy things down there. Bringing it to a good order may avoid any locking stuff, like you do it. And, it very easy to reach there. I do need my sailrite often. She is one of my little ‘life insurances’ for going to remote places! Happy that she’s with me. Well understood, thanks for your additional comment.

Re: ACMO and mechanical end fittings
Per ACMO quote today:
Swaged top terminations and mechanical bottoms - add 356Euros / $425 US to the all-swaged price Mechanical fittings top and bottom - add 728Euros / $870 to all-swaged price. This is for the SN, so SM would be somewhat more. Base total price all-swaged is 5742Euros. Add VAT for EU (none for USA). Shipping per country - 1800 by air to US (2 weeks transit time), 900 by sea (minimum 1 month). About 175 to Italy, as I recall from 2010. ACMO says their mechanical fittings are essentially the Norseman design but are manufactured by ACMO at their factory. -- Cheers, Craig - SN68 Sangaris, Tropic Isle Harbor, FL

You might check out Nautec Mare in Monfalcone, or several other yards there.

Hello,
I think it is behind the loudspeaker above the dishwashing machine. Last time I was installing the exhaust instrument and have seen it. At the time I was wondering what is it for. Now I think it is for bow truster. Just an idea if it might help. Regards -- Slavko SM 2000 #279 Bonne Anse in Portoroz

Hello Slavko,
last year I did the same lookout/research and finished with www.saijla-com.hr in Betina, Murter. They are competent and use recommended material. I have been there last year for preparation and measuring, but the work couldn’t be finished due to covid. But all my information and impression is good.

Hello, is there a rigger that could do a work on Amel, in Northern Adriatic? Or I would have to sail to Malta, Turkey or France. I pan to replace rigging end of this or latest spring 2022.

Bonjour Victor,
My masts are actually at Russo Yachting for a new paint and they will also attached the new rigging ordered from ACMO.
I believe that company is good and the new owner, Mr Duthoit is a very nice person.

Victor The company is reliable. The name of the company is new but not the company itself which has been active on the market for decades (Russo Yachting). Mr Russo retired 1 or 2 years ago. Philippe

JOHN HAYES
I purchased a larger Engle model .... no carry strap
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
A couple of years ago for a wander through the South Pacific. It worked really well. Stored it on my santorin in the bottom of the hanging locker Opposite the forward bathroom where 12 v wiring accessible. Never moved even in very rough water. All contents were well frozen. Meant that eg a large fish could be filleted and kept frozen as with fresh red meat purchased from JP’s favourite butcher in Nandi. A seriously good acquisition which cost about NZ$800 at the time from Burnsco John Hayes Nga Waka Wellington

Paul, I took out the nav station seat and installed a good size portable freezer in it's place. We spent six months in the Caribbean ,actually while you were there and it worked out very well. It did not seem to run that ,kept everything frozen solid and was very easy to access . The height was good to sit on ,a little bit of a squeeze to get your feet in under the desk ,but once in very .comfortable . Good Luck, Pat & Diane

Preparing for our next extended trip, and thinking of an additional portable freezer. We have the front opens fridge, the top opens fridge freezer, used as a fridge under the salon sofa, and a custom built freezer where the dish washer used to be +/- 35 liters. On a long trip far away from supermarkets a large freezing capacity would be handy. I can turn the small freezer (dishwasher place) to a fridge and then use the top opening fridge freezer as fridge, but that would give rather limited fridge capacity. Has anyone experience using a portable freezer in tropical climate? Does it works, any recommendations? were did you store it? Paul on AY Kerpa SM#259, Lagos Portugal

Re: Portable freezer
Hello Paul,
on my previous boat there was no freezer. I installed small 12V unit, portable, the one you would use in car or camper. Installed it in 2003 and was working well in 2020 when I sold a boat. I sailed with it all Med, 2 crossing of Atlantic and 2 seasons in Caribbean. No problem whatsoever. I can not remember the brand but I will try to find tomorrow in my old notes. -- Slavko SM 2000 #279 Bonne Anse in Portoroz
