Re: Mantus anchor on a 54

Courtney,

I will try to take a photo this week-end but not sure 100%.

Just forgot to explain, if you want to buy a Cromox 10 mm, it is necessary to buy a gypsy specially designed for the chain, unless it will not work properly. Cromox do offer the service to make the gypsy for your windlass.

Also buy the anchor twister CATO 10, a beautiful piece of metal.

Cordialement,

The aft valve is 1 1/4" BSPP I believe the forward head is the same.  One of the guys that has changed the forward valve may respond or contact them directly to confirm.

Re: Best Video projector for SMs

Brian Riggs

Thank you to all who have replied so far!

Scott, I do remember your setup aboard Tengah, and that's what really started me thinking about purchasing something that would work for both. I thought this sounded fun from the first day I saw it.

Kent, I'm really interested in what your finished project looks like. If you're aboard KRISTY, would you be able to provide measurements of the opening including the depth?

Robert, I'll search into Miroir projectors.

Jose, good point about focal length of the lens. This was something I was planning to estimate with a throw of somewhere in the +/-10 to 11 feet range. The plan has been to incorporate audio into the house system. Audio is actually my strength. I'm no stranger to large venue concerts from an audio engineering perspective.

Very respectfully,

Note my 85" pole comes with and requires 2 half-length poles that hook between a single eyelet at the bottom of the base of the mizzen boom and the port & mizzen shrouds. The shrouds both have a nock pressed into them to hold the outside ends of the poles at the correct height, which you can see in the photo.

I had that issue in Gib. I told them I would fill them myself and on the boat. They agreed.

Hi Bill,
That's been my experience so far as well although I do subscribe to Collins idea of topping of the tank when I have had a chance.  Backfired on me in Gibraltar.  Filled my tank, left Queensway to the fuel dock to discover they wouldn't fill jerrys.  Evidently enterprising individuals were filling them up and selling the duty free diesel to locals!

Brian,

Do you remember my setup when you came aboard? Can't recall the projector model right now, but I have it setup on port side on the shelf. I cut out the "fiddle" on the shelf to allow the projector to sit flat and then used the old metal bracket that previously held the DVD player to secure it.

On starboard, I have a 72" (1.82m) screen that is normally stored away and unroll it up UP and attach to a hook that I screwed into the underside of the roof.

That was an earlier iteration before I attached a hook to the underside of the roof.

This is of course on a 54, but I'm guessing it would work on a SM.

Re: Volvo penta D3 110 I-D

I had the exact same problem on our 2900nm passage from Hawaii to Tahiti. Imagine being in the doldrums and being afraid your engine is going to die!

https://amelyachtowners.groups.io/g/main/topic/77988991

The Volvo replacement switch is around 60 euros and since it's not sealed, will fail again. I plan to use a spade connector and stuff it with silicone grease. The emergency stop switch on my D3-110C is kind of in the path of the intake fan airflow. Not a great design.

I suggest all D3 owners check their emergency stop switch. Mine has been intermittent for 3 years.

I replaced the BT seals about 4 months ago. If you have a big puller, it isn't too difficult. We couldn't source one in Tahiti so made one out of two steel bars we found in the dumpster (!!) and two long bolts/nuts.

Here's a thread I started about it:
