Re: Sea Chest

Sv Garulfo

hi Mark,

Can you expand on that idea? I don’t really see where that valve would be?

Bill,
What do you think of a hose out of the Vetus lid, up over the water line and outputting in the cockpit drain (which is very nearby on the A54), with a one way valve to let accumulated air out into the cockpit drain but preventing any suction of air through there?
Raw water consumers would pump sea water through the chest and strainer and any accumulated air (up to the waterline) would rejoin the atmosphere by simple gravity.
Arguably, the rolling motion of the boat would continuously fill that one-way hose with sea water until it overflows in the drain. Also, removing the vetus lid for maintenance of he sea chest would be messier, having to deal with the water left in the hose. Maybe a Gardena type adapter to easily remove the hose from the lid even if it’s full. The same fitting could be used to feed the system fresh water for wintering like Arno did.

Any views ?

Thanks

Subject: [AmelYachtOwners] Best Sailrite flightcase storage in A54?

Hi all,

I’m looking for ideas for storing a Sailrite sowing machine (with its flightcase) somewhere practical and safe on the A54.

Has anyone gone through that exercise ?

Many thanks

Hi Thomas,

Easy, I took out the Bose system main box under the saloon table forward seat. With all the latest music and sound systems it makes lots of sense to free up the weight of this ancient ultra expensive system used over 10 years ago. The main DVD unit stopped working.
The Sailrite just squeezes in, had to trim the rubber padding edges on the corners of the case. Penny's Janome also fits in this space with all our sewing kit and materials, including sail cloth patches. Our Sailrite has been indispensable and saved us a fortune.
Hope this is an idea for you to look at. If you need photos I can send.

Very Best Regards

Description:

All,

It is my true pleasure to announce our next ZOOM meeting for 10 April at 2000 UTC.

The Subject of this meeting is “How to work with a broker to Buy or Sell your Amel." Included will be tips from one of the world's most experienced Amel brokers, Joel Potter.

I asked Joel Potter to place some of his Amel knowledge and his love of the brand aside for this ZOOM meeting. I asked Joel to use his experience to help you understand how to best work with a yacht broker as a Buyer and as a Seller. I also asked him to provide you with some inside information and tips on how to work with any broker. I do not think that you will find this “inside information” and tips anywhere.

If you own an Amel, someday you will be selling her and a few tips can be worth thousands. If you plan on buying an Amel, chances are you will hear advice that will be “priceless.”

Joel Potter began his Amel selling career 40 years ago in 1981. Since that time and up to the present Joel has sold Amel yachts, almost exclusively. In 2015, Joel retired from selling new Amel boats after nearly 35 years of being Amels exclusive representative for all of North America in order to concentrate on selling preowned Amel boats.

Joel has sold some Amels multiple times, first when they were new and up to 6 times as resales. Without a doubt, Joel knows Amels and he is one of the few brokers in the world that I recommend. Joel is amazingly linked to Amel and one of Amel’s biggest supporters. Joel has also personally owned two Super Maramus and an Amel 54.

Courtney,

I will try to take a photo this week-end but not sure 100%.

Just forgot to explain, if you want to buy a Cromox 10 mm, it is necessary to buy a gypsy specially designed for the chain, unless it will not work properly. Cromox do offer the service to make the gypsy for your windlass.

Also buy the anchor twister CATO 10, a beautiful piece of metal.

Re: Best Video projector for SMs

Brian Riggs

Thank you to all who have replied so far!

Scott, I do remember your setup aboard Tengah, and that's what really started me thinking about purchasing something that would work for both. I thought this sounded fun from the first day I saw it.

Kent, I'm really interested in what your finished project looks like. If you're aboard KRISTY, would you be able to provide measurements of the opening including the depth?

Robert, I'll search into Miroir projectors.

Jose, good point about focal length of the lens. This was something I was planning to estimate with a throw of somewhere in the +/-10 to 11 feet range. The plan has been to incorporate audio into the house system. Audio is actually my strength. I'm no stranger to large venue concerts from an audio engineering perspective.

Very respectfully,

Note my 85" pole comes with and requires 2 half-length poles that hook between a single eyelet at the bottom of the base of the mizzen boom and the port & mizzen shrouds. The shrouds both have a nock pressed into them to hold the outside ends of the poles at the correct height, which you can see in the photo.

Hi Bill,
That's been my experience so far as well although I do subscribe to Collins idea of topping of the tank when I have had a chance.  Backfired on me in Gibraltar.  Filled my tank, left Queensway to the fuel dock to discover they wouldn't fill jerrys.  Evidently enterprising individuals were filling them up and selling the duty free diesel to locals!
