Hello Arlo,
Thank you very much.
Ops.. I just made a change into the boat :-) I didn´t like how the kitchen drain was designed (conected with the bilge and not directly to the sea), so I made a little but very advantageous modification. I have connected it to the port deck cabin drain. I can open a new post with pictures if you are interested on it.
I just copied it from antother Sharki in my marina.

All the best,

Diego

There is no Sharki manual.  See Bill Rouse for a "generic" manual.  Mostly references super maramus but alot applies to Sharki as well.

I am sure than an Amel is more suitable for my project than a racing boat. I cooperate with: Tech based SMEs, Research Centers ans Universities for testing their new tech into my boat.
We help them in communications and commercial tasks, in order to put new tech products into the market. For example SolarFace technology by Tecnalia. This tech is besed into the integration of solar cells into composite materials https://www.tecnalia.com/images/stories/energia-medioAmbiente/Downloads/SOL-EN-SOLARFACE.pdf . Thus we could manuzacture a lot of parts for our Amels with tis tech. You can see both boats and this tech in ths video (spanish) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjfIyEgAz_c&t=323s

I have not found the Sharki´s owners manual in my boat. I asked to Amel directly but they have not reply to my e-mail. Could someone help me please?
I need also information about the propeller of this boat because one of my partners is going to manufacture a prototype made with Titanium por an R&D project (cathodic proteccion with impressed current)

Thank you very much for your attention to his e-mail and for allowing me to participare in this forum.

When we bought Eleuthera, SM007, the anchor wash system was inoperative.

Our fresh water pump is a 3 bar, variable volume Marco 12 E.  Not wishing to replace the anchor wash pump, we placed a T in the fresh water feed to the forward head and now we have fresh water anchor wash.  Works fine.

We also have a Duo 100 water maker which exacerbates the high volume water use if the anchor wash.

Welcome to the Amel family! Excellent choice of a vessel! You will find that this group is an awesome source of information. Best piece of advice I recieved was dont change anything that Amel did at the factory and if you must, wait until you have owned the boat for a year.

Enjoy! Btw very cool technology referenced on your website

Re: Sonic Speed system on an Amel 54

Yes, 184-00-076 is the sensor used on the SM and 54. These originally were around 1,000.

Thanks all for your replies.
I did notice there are two models for the sensors. I have difficulties understanding how the straight one would sit in the hull given it’s position. At present it’s still working so no immediate action required.
I did look at the ultrasonic version as well, maybe a more sensible upgrade path. I’m thinking about replacing the current stuff B&G and Furuno Navnet 3d with a full suite of Furuno to reduce the number of brands and to reduce the massive amount of power the Navnet Blackbox is consuming. My first activity was to upgrade the monitor at the navigation desk with a touchscreen panel to support the new blackbox from Furuno.
The new blackbox solution from Furuno takes only 30% of the power the Navnet 3D is taking. I don’t really like the B&G gauges at the helm as well, they take up a lot of space and provide little information for the space they take up. They feel a bit outdated to be honest. But the total pricetag for the upgrade is still quite scary...

Re: anchor wash

Mike,

Yes, but I knew that Cloudstreet was a SM2k, have been aboard her, and knew where to point him. During the production of the SM, the location of the anchor wash pump changed from the bow to the engine room as the SM moved toward the SM 2000 version.

You make a very good point that we all tend to miss. Amel made changes during the years that each model was produced and many Amels are modified by previous owners, then purchased by someone new to Amel. Bill Reynolds recently purchased Cloudstreet SM2k #331. Cloudstreet has enjoyed 4 very good previous owners. All of these previous owners were careful to keep her in original condition, purchasing OEM and OEM equivalent parts, and performing on-time maintenance. Regrettably, this is not true with all Amels.

I absolutely agree that we should be careful when giving advice, especially to someone new to Amel.

Bill,

The following photo is from the A-54 Manual, but the breaker box is similar to the one on your SM inside the engine room on the bulkhead. Note the red circle.  The anchor wash breaker is "EAU MER."

The following photo is from your SM2000 Amel Manual, page 39. Note the red circle.

Re: Sonic Speed system on an Amel 54

Alexander Hofmann

Hi Arno, Alan, Mohammad,

I purchased my Amel 54 in 2013, she is on of the last production year from summer 2010. in 2015 the Sonic Speed System showed more and more failures (typical way of coming to end of life). Spares were not available anymore. Upon recommendation of Amel and the specialists in La Rochelle I replaced it with the Ultrasonic System in 2016 or 2017. See https://www.nke-marine-electronics.com/?s=ultrasonic
You have to make a new hole in the hull. I have installed it close to the Compass of the Autopilot in the locker in frint of the berth in the front cabin. The system works well. Have had no prpoblems since then.
Best regards
